Ashlands

「Ash Lands」

By Heinvers

Gameplay

A lava/hot themed terrain template. It's up to you what you use it for.

Planet Derillios was not always a hot lava furnace with nothing but death at every step. A million years ago it was a lush world blooming with life.
Over the course of half a million years it got through a natural disaster boiling in the planet's core which sent it to the path of death. While temperatures increased, the ecosystem began to collapse around the planet including the demise of the intelligent race that inhabited its surface. After this the planet just went through an irreversible runaway greenhouse effect which made sure everything would die of extreme heat.
Visitors will find a lava planet with only bits of remaining plants that are covered in ash and died of heat along with ruined structures. Beware of the treacherous ground beneath your feet.

The lava-underground look is really amazing the use of 2 types of custom lava SFX gave in the detail of the map, the use of rocks and trees are like the toppers of the cake, but somehow looking closely at the player red's starting location, the bridge that builds up block pavement is kinda missing a few step lines you might want to add more to complete the look.

Game-wise, the map can be easily be categorized as a mini-game, a small sized hero arena/boss or offense, though it would be probably be suitable with waygates in my observation.

Overall, this template looks fine and good for a couple of game types.

Reminds me of Firelands.
Edit: Checked the map with World Editor and it looks pretty good. I love the moving lava. There is one thing i dont like and that is that the place where you put red starting area could use some other tiles too, because mostly the map only contains of dirt and bricks, but maybe add some red stones too.

OH MY GOD THAT'S UGLY! (in a good way...)
Well done, man, this is amazing!

After this the planet just went through an irreversible runaway greenhouse effect which made sure everything would die of extreme heat.
Visitors will find a lava planet with only bits of remaining plants that are covered in ash and died of heat along with ruined structures. Beware of the treacherous ground beneath your feet.

...lol, what a bad heart :'(

Hmmm. To be honest, I don't really like this template specially after dropping a very polished terrain last time. The idea of the moving lava is very great and the materials you used are all very fitting to the theme but the terrain just seems lacking on the design department. The theme and materials you used are oozing with potential specially with those columns, blocks and arcs. I can already picture a shrine and some other structure just with those materials and knowing you I'm really sure you can pull something jaw dropping with those.

Overall, its eye-candy because of the resources used. But if you look at it more closely, it really looks like just a spam fest with no real centerpiece to carry the template. Probably the best part of the map are the bridges but that is it.

I refuse to rate it for now because I know you can do better than this. Although I can already guess that you have no intention of improving it further. D:

PS. The glow on the top right can use some more polishing.

Definitely a fantastic template from you Heinvers. Still, I looked at the top-right corner and I was disappointed to see two islands mostly made of Dirt. Why didn't you make those two lonely islands as great as all the others? For me, they need much more decoration. Then, to improve your terrain, I strongly recommend to use the Dark Rock with perfectly fits with your theme.
After all, the map is amazing. The glows, the rocks, the bridges and the way you made the terrain is really unique. I can see that the top left corner is very well made.

So I would give this map 4/5 and vote for APPROVAL! Good job my friend!

Looks pretty nice there mate. The flowing lava is perfect (I may just have to use that haha) and the glow you added to it in certain areas is also extremely well done. All the materials you used are great and fit this map for sure. I just wish there was more to explore ;)

This one might be your best work yet. Awesome :)
Maybe it's just me, but I prefer this to a forest theme.
5/5

This has the Red Ridge Mountains and the Blasted Lands written all over it! :D great job man
Oh, you got me there ;D

Nah, it may resemble those regions indeed, but it wasn't meant to be. Oh well, thanks for the comment.

Hey Heinvers, would it be alright if I used your template for a battle arena style map? I have a seriously cool concept that I want to try and bring to life and your terrain is absolutely perfect for the concept. Credit will be given of course.

This looks amazing. It's also amazing how you find simple ways of making maps look realistic and lovely.

Lava model doesn't get rendered while its entity is within black mask.

It's up to you what you use it for.
Is it? You have sporadic, isolated walkable regions. Only way to traverse the thing is blinkers and air carriage (which can get to lava by the way). It could make for a mission akin to TFT Human single-lane MOBA one would the two bigger masses be connected.
