Basically, the title - are there any edited versions of the original campaigns that feature stronger heroes in some way? Uncapped levels, more items etc.

I've had a look and there is just so many maps to wade through and google is singularly unhelpful in this context.

Thanks in advance!

The Human Campaign, the Scourge of Lordaeron, by teozamait, has a lot of enhancements on it that make the gameplay a lot more fun.
The Scourge of Lordaeron - Enhanced

The Orc Demo Campaign, compiled by Kostyarik, is easily edited; you can change models for personal use or edit the unit's abilities with others you find to be more fit. Don't see Grommash as the stealthy type? Substitute Windwalk and Mirror Image for tanky and damaging abilities.
Exodus of the Horde (Original Voice Over)

If you're using Wacraft-All-In-one, by loktar, you can again edit things, but it will take waaaaay longer. If I understood how to change the sequential map order (once you complete a map which next map is triggered), I would try my hand at making campaigns for Undead, Night Elves, and the Frozen throne scenarios as well. I'm just far too new at this to be there yet, and i don't have as much time as i would like to dedicate to this.
