There's some good free to play MMOs nowadays, like SWTOR.

I can also recommend trying out Tera Online at least once. The client is fucking huge and the quests are boring and tedious, but the battle system is pretty unique and the visuals are great. If you don't mind to do endless killing quests, you can actually have a lot of fun in this game. Especially dungeons are challenging and skill-based instead of equipment based.
