PALO ALTO, CA –Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March. Managing the site has become too stressful.

“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts.

“After March 15th the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”

Zuckerberg said that the decision to shut down Facebook was difficult, but that he does not think people will be upset.

“I personally don’t think it’s a big deal,” he said in a private phone interview. “And to be honest, I think it’s for the better. Without Facebook, people will have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”

Some Facebook users were furious upon hearing the shocking news.

“What am I going to do without Facebook?” said Denise Bradshaw, a high school student from Indiana. “My life revolves around it. I’m on Facebook at least 10 hours a day. Now what am I going to do with all that free time?”

However, parents across the country have been experiencing a long anticipated sense of relief.

“I’m glad the Facebook nightmare is over,” said Jon Guttari, a single parent from Detroit. “Now my teenager’s face won’t be glued to a computer screen all day. Maybe I can even have a conversation with her.”

Those in the financial circuit are criticizing Zuckerberg for walking away from a multibillion dollar franchise. Facebook is currently ranked as one of the wealthiest businesses in the world, with economists estimating its value at around 7.9 billion.

But Zuckerberg remains unruffled by these accusations. He says he will stand by his decision to give Facebook the axe.

“I don’t care about the money,” said Zuckerberg. “I just want my old life back.”

The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.

Hahaha...Bad News..

A dream come true.

Unfortunately it's fake. So it's not a dream.

Here in Lithuania it wouldn't be a big problem, before Facebook there was an One.Lt which was completely similar to Facebook, pretty sure everyone would just return to one.lt if Faceboo would get closed, resulting in internet addiction not cured... but hey, at least Farmville woukld stop bugging everyone...

Well there are no official information or even announcements in Facebook, so this will never ever happen.
Extra arguments this will never happen:
-Zuckerberg does not think virtual socializing is worse than real one, else he would never create facebook.
-Zuckerberg is not a tibetian monk or a communist, so he just can't not care about so much money.
-There's nothing to get tired of in Facebook, it's not so painful to manage it and he got people to do everything for him.
-Facebook is a job of his life, he can't just get rid of it. Esspecially when there are so many people using it.
-Facebook out of control? Well I don't remember any bots advertising or people uploading porn or cboy123 trolling in Facebook, so it's not out of control.

The Facebook Corporation suggests that users remove all of their personal information from the website before March 15th. After that date, all photos, notes, links, and videos will be permanently erased.
-That's just not logical, why should you remove all that stuff if it will already be removed eariler or later? I'll pitty the fools and laugh from fools that will fall on this hoax...

So I report this thread and hope you'll be neg-reped for scamming.

York, Jan 9: Internet faux news site Weekly World News posted a story that horrified the Facebook users across the world. The story in the site revealed that the California based social networking website Facebook will shut down on Mar 15, 2011, because it has become too stressful to manage it for the founder Mark Zuckerberg.

The American supermarket tabloid Weekly World News claimed that, in a press conference Zuckerberg declared that he would shut down the Facebook by Mar 15 and added, “if users want to see their pictures again, I recommend to take them off the internet. They won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”

Zuckerberg, on Saturday, Jan 8, confirmed this is an hoax story. He said, “oh yea, use some common sense. Also, with a company estimated at being worth over $50 billion, why would anyone even think of suddenly shutting it down.” He added, “it would obviously make sense to sell it off rather than just kill it all together.”

In the year 2010 Facebook generated $2 billion dollars revenue, for the company.

Facebook has successfully raised $500 million in a recent round of funding from Goldman Sachs and Russia's Digital Sky Technologies (DST).

The phenomenal growth of Facebook worldwide has made Zuckerberg one of the world's youngest billionaires.
