I havn't found a decent wc3 racing game so Ill work on this project and also cuz Im car addict and like Nfs games.
This is my progres after like 30h of work. Still a lot of stuff to do.
Some bugs to fix and some ideas id like to implement.
like a AI, km/h or mp/h display, maybe a drift system(which I could make out of a slide system), real car sounds, a position indicator.
Better cars, too. The curent ones are just placeholders except the nissan skyline until I found or made better models.

In battle.net this should be fun :)


I planed to make a few more tracks but wanted to complete this one first and perfect.

Its a beta so don't expect to much.

Well the lap itself aint identical with grandprix anymore.
I changed a lot of streets etc.
Ill now add more modern buildings to fully replace the old ones.

btw on the railway there actualy pass a train which spawns every minutes.

Ill also add some places u wont need for the race. u can just drive to them for fun.

and that's it ?

I mean the ammo bar and some of the power ups are still left over..
tell us about how you spent 30 hours "making" this track

nopes much more.
I changed the streets themselves, too.
its not the same curcuit as grandprix anymore. more than half of it is completly different. But if u want to ill make the rest of the stuff completly different, too.
ammo bar ill delete, too.
The power ups are all deleted now already.
Ill add nos/nitro instead.
I spent hours for bug fixing, too.
I deleted and added some triggers myself.
But that grandprix triggers where to much like adjusted for grandprix.
And the more I made the more bugs came.
I fixed 1 bug and 993248394 bugs came.
Sometimes I had to remiport the whole triggers and start over again cuz of compile errors. So it took me really long to make it work more or less.
I edited the car stats, too. Speed acceleration, handling. I had to think up a balancing. Anyhow all cars are faster than the carts from grandprix.
ohh I had to look up description in the web for the car selector at very begining, too.
So it wasnt only terrain itself for which I took REALLY long, too.
Since I make everything detailed.

ya its a beta still :)

okay...ill change the rest of map terrain, too into something new.
thoughts its fun as it is now.

if u got any better puzzle ideas lemme know. anyhow im not sure if this map even needs puzzles.

Updates :D
After some more hours of work I now changed the whole begining of the map and added a small town, too.
Also I edited and added some other minor stuff.

btw my best name idea atm for this is "adrenaline" lol

Soooo this is the first release.


Ill call the map adrenaline for now. Maybe i find a better name thought.
Don't get yourself iritated ingame to much from the "wrong direction"!!
Ill fix that in further releases.
I protected the map cuz my coding is embarasing and I don't want u to see it xD

Not bad. Btw, is this gonna be played on single player or multiplayer? 'Cuz there are a lot of possibilities for both. If multiplayer, it could be like an ORPG-ish map, where you could save your car, and stuff. If single, you could also make it into a campaign, where you'll battle other racers, and try to battle them car-for-car. Btw, I'm liking the concept, haven't viewed the video though. Will do after classes. Subscribed.

The first release is playable already.
You are able to play this in battle.net with up to 8 ppl.

campaign not sure yet. could be nice but im bad making up stories.

but keep in mind ford falcon and corvette are bugged.
I balanced the car stats; top speed, acceleration, handling.
But I cant really say how good its balanced before it didnt got tested online.


This are the curent stats;

Corvette:
decent top speed.
best acceleration.
a bit worse handling.

Nissan Skyline:
good top speed.
decent acceleration.
decent handling.


Ford Falcon:
Best top speed.
Worst acceleration.
Worst handling.


Police car:
Worst top speed.
Good acceleration.
Best handling.




...Im working on police chase trigger right now :)

Whoa, a unique modernized Grand Prix....
It would be nice if you kinda make it like a Death Race though, where you upgrade cars with weapons and stuff but still modern.... you know kinda making it to Grand Prix a little.
Although if you like it like NFS, I'm sure people would like some kind of tuning system and save codes too for multiplayer.
But still epic map :)

Hmm, cool.

Saving cars, like in RPG's, you get a code so you get to load your tuned up car, etc. It's like saving your game, then loading it in another game.

For campaign, if you decide to do so, I could help in making stories. I have lots of ideas for a racing game story.

For car models, I suggest you visit http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/requests-341/ and request for some car models there. eubz makes car models, btw.

Unfortunatly Im limited cuz I cant jazz :csad:
Meaning I doupt I can fix the bugs & realize most of the ideas without a jazz coder to help me.


I cant fix the ford falcon animation neither get police chase trigger to work,
,
cant get away the ammo thing completly without screwing up everything else,
Cant make a Position display nor a Km/h one.
Also I doupt Im capable of even making a working save/load trigger.
U might noticed if u pick the corvette ingame the size is so mini. Even if I set the scale size higher in the editor it gets ignored as soon as you selected it for the race, Tuning system i neither know how to implement.
Id like a slide/drift system for ice aswell.
And I wanna replace car sounds by real car sounds but can't do that neither without getting compile errors of the jazz trigger.
This are just the issues popping up to my mind right now but Im sure there is more to work on.

-replaced all old war3 models which were left by modern ones.
-added some hidden places and ways. Most of those dont work for the race thought.
You can simply go and explore them.
-fixed some minor stuff.

I can't add more cars simply cuz leak of wc3 model cars and I can't manage to import downloaded ones from web anyhow...
Also If I try to add more cars in the script I might screw it up and get compile error.

Okay, but then how can you open a thread for a project that ONLY YOU work on, and you're not familiar with any of WarCraft 3's "scripting languages"? I've been making private projects for years before starting a serious one (that's why it's going that well)

The thing is that I got bored of this, I never finish any of my projects cuz they get boring after a few weeks.
Also it sucks that I cant even host my map...
Same for MMOs. I play first weeks and then get bored...

@Yayoi, he quit this project,

Reason:
  • He don't know how to code
  • He don't know lots on World Editor
  • All he did is to change the model and tiles and remove some stuffs on the original map.

Well I was really hoping to see more on this, but its just too much for him I guess.


WRONG.
I know how to use triggers and all funtionalities of the world editor.
I've been working with it since around 2006.
and I did much more than just change the models and tiles on the original map.
If u would have looked more than 2 mins into it instead of complaing u might have noticed that.

It were around 40 or more hours of work.
I spent hours on the code also. i had to fix tons of bugs which came up the more I progressed, too.

Im just to lazy to get into jass so I can't realise things like;

-get away the ammo HUD completly without screwing up everything else
-make a player position HUD nor a Km/h or Mh/h one.
-if u pick the corvette ingame the size is so small. Even if I set the scale size higher in the editor it gets ignored as soon as you start the race.
-Id like a slide/drift system for ice or something aswell.
