active windowed mode

Dunno if this fits here, but whatever. When I run warcraft in windowed mode, if the window is inactive, the game pauses. It's possible to make it still running if you are currently working in other programs?

Was gonna say "start it as lan"..
But you need two players for that, so:
1. Get friends
2. I dunno

Newgen Warcraft is set to work that way also in single player, as far as I tested it.

Download Jass Newgen Pack, the "NewGen Warcraft.exe" file is inside it. The problem is... probably it won't work with the latest patches, but that's worth a try anyway.

EDIT: Nevermind that, you can simply start the game in LAN, you don't need to have more than 1 player to start it and works fine in singleplayer maps. It works, just tested

I can put up a tutorial to get a windowed mode if you'de like, and BTW you can't fix the pause thing, the only way it wont pause when you leave the window is if you are online.

That wouldn't work if the map is in campaign or too big for multiplayer.

Basically I would need this for AI testing.

Then Newgen Warcraft is the only way I know. Download JNGP and use that, but I can't assure you it will work (I had an error message from it today :S)
