But since I'm an asshole, I'll give my opinion anyway. OP is an idiot. I read like 2 lines and stopped caring.

I'm guessing 99% of the people who have posted can't vote in the upcoming election. So you'll excuse me if we don't take your opinions seriously.

I'm guessing that Dems lose their majorities in the House and Senate. They are absolutely horrible at running a government. Not that Republicans are better. I voted the Libertarian candidate last Presidential Election, whose name escapes me right now.

And to say that 2010 isn't an important year, is not a very informed opinion. If the Dems keep their majority we get Health Care and probably Cap and Trade too. If the Dems lose their majority it's probable that Health Care and Cap and Trade will not come to anything. That's incredibly important, at least to me.

Personally, I am against both Cap and Trade and the Health Care bill. What we need is not bigger government, but smaller.

No shit Health Care needs to be fixed. But there are different ways to do it, and ways that would bring prices down if our Congressmen and Senators would actually listen to anyone (Both Dems and Repubs).

What exactly do you mean by again? Though the U.S. never took all of Mexico or Canada, they did complete the original goal of spanning "from sea to sea".

U.S + Canada was earlier referred to comically from necessity, saying that they would be brought together to fend off the southern states until there resources would eventually give out (like they did in the actual civil war). No one really referred to manifest destiny.

Also manifest destiny can be seen as part of the overall world-wide rise in imperialism that dominated that time.

Well Manifest destiny is an excuse that simply doesn't hold up anymore (it was pretty far fetched even in its time).
-The casualties that would result don't justify the end results (taking an already governed country, similar to the U.S. that is already a potential place to trade)
-The original goal of Manifest Destiny, to expand to the other side of the continent, has already been achieved.
-Imperialism has overall gone out of favor in world wide policy, though some countries do slightly follow it, it's nothing like that of the time when manifest destiny had been first used.
-Invading another country simply for territory would make the U.S. lose favor among the other countries in the U.N.

So Canada, it's pretty safe to say that there won't be a war between the U.S. and Canada for a long time.
