So I've made map in the 1.24 version if I want to update it to the reforged version will it be playable and be able to edit it?
And if not what would I need to change in order to be?
Also are there any benefits/changes to the reforged editor other than the bigger map size the i know of?

The latest Warcraft 3 patch (Reforged) is backwards compatible with maps and campaigns that were made with the older versions, but if you attempt to save your old map with the Reforged version of World Editor, it "breaks" the compatibility and you have to do some workaround like using Map Adapter to make it playable with the older versions.

Also, some older maps (<2010) won't work on the versions beyond 1.24 if the particular map uses some kind of "return bug" exploit, which was literally fixed with that version.

oh i did that once, i used to have 24 version then accidentally "applied" the wrong patch of 1.32 reforge and it broke my map (half decade ago and had to pause from modding for a long time lol) also the answer is already said by the first guy...pretty much cant re-edit backwards

You can use Drake53's Map Adapter to revert those changes, but I can't guarantee this tool will work 100%.

It's best to make a backup of your old map before editing with the latest version of World Editor if all else fail.
