As always thanks for sharing your knowledge with me. I know it may sound strange but i want to live like a warrior by all aspects.
Also i believe samurais were much more. Well, Japan , from early times had a healty lifestyle, they had a lot of teas, vegetables, marine animals, calmars, fish, you know, a lot of proteins that helps building strong muscles and imunity system. They had much experience in combat style, karate, kung fu and maybe others fighting styles learned from the neighbours such as Pankration from Indonesia or the well known Muay Thai from Thailand that is bettter known today as Kickboxing. I do not believe that they had stone lifting or others mass building exercises, so i believe they was Bruce Lee type: ripped with medium and functional muscles. Also they are known for their meditation to keep their minds sharp and healthy.
And vikings i believe they were pretty muscular but less ripped. They were were very tough since they lived in hard winter climate, their food was probably highly in protein ,also they were great alchool drinkers. I am sure they didnt have training programs but they had some combat and military exercises, and they had a lot of heavy weapons and armours.
