Making a Sandbox map

Intro: I'm fairly new, it's been awhile. First I wanted t know if anyone has made a descent sand box map like the one I intend to create. I've done this before, but I lost all the resources I was using to create it when my last hard drive crashed years ago. I'm a bit imaginative in a childish sort of way, so it would be a dream come true to have a HUGE map with TONS of models for custom units and full control over about 20 separate total players. This is mainly for myself, but I'd consider putting in an a few hours to track down everyone I'd need to credit at this point if others want this map when I'm done. Last two times I did this is was awesomely fun full of hours of entertainment.

Where I am so far: Just so you know what I am doing incase you have input or advice, I haven't started but I've done this all before twice. I'm just going through collecting models/textures/icons to import for potential use later. The more resources the merrier because I intend to get a lot of use out of this map and I need to create about 20 separate factions all with their own units.

Issue 1: Getting certain models.
Please let me know if there are other good places to get models that are not here. Specifically Heroes of Might and Magic 5 models.

It's great that there are so many resources, but I can't exactly filter it down to the ones I want without carefully going through each page of models on several sites. I'm stuffing my subfolder's in a downloads folder full of resouces. What I really want right now are those Russian models! I've done a google search in russian (because that's where I'd get resources for Heroes of Might and Magic games) and they have a lot of the same models and a lot of original stuff not here at all. I want models from Heroes of Might and Magic 5. So far I've found all the Archangels (Good Stuff:ogre_haosis:) and a Dark Archangel. The Archdevil, Squire, Archer and Footman. It wasn't easy either. It took me hours of going through their sites but I found some other good stuff.

Issue 2: I need a better editor. I've tried UMSWE 4.1 and the NewGen Pack on this site, but I'm having grave issues with both. I can't even open the awesome NewGen pack I'd previously used for scripts and getting a lot of tiles for terrain textures in my maps. How do you get past the password protected 7z archive inside the zip archive????:vw_wtf: I'm using this on a MacBook Pro (It's all I have) and I'm using Wine to play Window's games. It's working rather well, but I can't for the life of me get the NewGen pack open. The UMSWE doesn't seem to have all the features I wan't such as adding more tiles.

Issue 3: I can't remember how to create a few simple scripts which let me A: fully control all players (while retaining their colors. B: Let me control the time of day by typing a message. C: Let me change selected units over to another player by typing a message and D: let me create more players than the current limit of 12. If I have issues with more complex scripts I'll post in that forum. I might be able to remember how to create one for controling the players and time of day by tinkering around a bit, but with the JASS tool (part of the NewGen pack) it was more simple because I just pulled scripts out of websites I searched through. So I need to get the NewGen pack to work first.

Thanks, but I'm aware of all this except the list of model providing sites. I can't open the JNGP 7z. On my Mac it says it's corrupted even though I have unarchivers for that extension. I really need help with the issues above. I don't use FF models, I want Heroes of Might and Magic 5 models ported over straight from Heroes of Might and Magic 5. I've only found about 9 of them on 2 separate Russian which I've almost exhausted going through over 10,000 models and they aren't on any of the english sites.
 
Thanks that may be a big help, I'll see if it works now.

Edit: Actually it's not what I'm looking for. I had a tool a few years ago when I used to edit maps that allowed me to add more terrain tiles into the map than the standard WE allows. If I could get JNGP to work then I think I could do that, but I already have my own compilation of doodads which I intend to use within my map.
