The axe is good to me, but the blue effect behind it needs to be reworked, make the opacity lower so its see-through and looks like the axe is being thrown. Right now its hard to pick up what exactly is happening.
Some stronger shading and higher contrast, to make the foreground axe more prominent could go along way with this icon I feel. All in all, good stuff and seems useful.
