Looks good, terrain from picture also I will check map for sure!
But maybe you can improve description! Add color to text, screenshots, etc etc!
Well it’s a good start! I’ll give a quick impression, it’s by no means detailed but it’s just my impression after a viewing .
STORY:
Story needs a little work, I know it’s more of an intro/teaser sort of thing, but I think it’ll need more development. I mean as of now it’s not too unique. I think it’s more how you presented it though rather than the story itself and this cutscene focused more on action, with only a few quick lines about the back-story at the beginning. But still, it shows good promise, I just hope you’ll extrapolate on the history behind the conflict and have some characters or strong plot that can evolve over the course of the final cinematic, rather than just an angry demon going around killing everyone for revenge which would be cliché and a let down.
3/5 for its presentation in this particular cinematic, but 4/5 for potential .
TERRAIN:
Not much to say, it was nice and varied, with a good balance of buildings and trees and suitable earth height variations etc. Waterfall scene was very nice too .
4/5
ACTION:
Again, lots of good work here. Nice and varied with different kills. Could’ve used some more special effects, a little more eye candy and perhaps some things like slow motion or even short freeze-frames to emphasise the kills. And it wouldn't hurt to be a little more fast-paced. But all in all, good work
4/5
CAMERA:
K this is where it was lacking a little. Camera for the first parts was alright, but for the action scenes it was slow and unimmersive. In some parts where Uzuru was violently killing all those soldiers, the camera is just slowly panning across the terrain like 50 feet away haha. Try making the camera move quicker, and in action scenes change angles more often so it’s more fast paced and feels like you’re in the action rather than just zooming out, fixing the camera on Uzuru and slowly rotating it around him while he kills people . Or for example when he jumps off the hill and kills the soldier, have the camera follow him from a little distance and then zoom in when he lands on the soldier and kills him, shaking the camera a tiny bit. That way the viewer will feel the impact of the kill, rather than just 'watching a soldier get killed'. It’s annoying work I know to get the camera moving lots, but it’s well worth it, especially in action scenes. In conclusion not terrible by any means, but needs a little work in the action scenes
3/5
MUSIC:
Well this is something that’s more of a personal touch so I don’t really like rating it. I prefer the traditional Warcraft 3-type music in scenes that are based in its time (check out X-ray Dog’s little pieces and the likes) but the music worked for the action so it’s fine with me. Only thing is, have music during the talking parts too, some softer music in the background really helps to alleviate the boredom that can come from the parts in cinematics while we just have to sit and read dialogue without voice acting, it’s hard to avoid and a little music can solve the problem . I won’t rate the music, but I have no problem with it
All in all, I give it around 3.5/5, but with its potential I’ll round it up to 4/5. Keep it up, can’t wait to see where it goes .
Camera : The camera work is good, no problems here. Terrain : The environment is excellent, making desert terrains is hard, yet you've managed to make a fantastic clan camp. Story : The story is ok I guess, there's not much to say since an old warlock wants to kill the humans for having banished him from his camp. Animations : The fighting scene is nicely done, with different animations, slow motion etc. Other : There are a few typos in the cinematic. Hiveworkshop : You have written an acceptable description. Overall : I guess it's a nice cinematic, recommended to all warcraft 3 players. Final Rating : 3/5 |
