Zelda.blp

Updated:

Skirt completely reworked.

-----
Skin colours unified.
Increased contrast on purple part of dress and hair.
Increased contrast on gloves and pattern added.
Sharper edge on purple part on back of skirt.
Pattern added to back of skirt.

Still having trouble with parts of the front of the skirt appearing on the back. As it rotates the part that is repeated, it's pretty hard to work around, so for that part I've just used a very subtle texture, so it doesn't look obviously repeated. To try and stop the back of the skirt looking too plain, I added a pattern. I'm still not wholly satisfied with the skirt, but trying to make it work is like running into a brick wall. >_<

-----

My first skin. I know the idea is a little uninspired, but I wanted to see if I could get the hang of the whole skinning thing. All freehand, bar the design on the light part of the skirt, which was CnP and then drawn over and changed somewhat. I may scrap that part as I'm not sure if it fits. Comments and crits very much appreciated.

Have you textured before? Because this looks nothing like a first try skin.

If most of what you did is really freehand, then you did your homework very well. Skin looks great. =)
However, I have a few critiques about the skin.

- There are lots of details that will go lost when viewed ingame, mainly the hair and the purple part of the dress. Maybe add some contrast there.
- Skin tone of the face looks a little off in comparisation to the skin tone of the rest of her skin.
- Lower skirt part and the gloves could use some additional shading, definition and contrast.
- The back of the skirt part between the purple part and lower part is quite blurry and needs to be a little sharper.

Here's a reference picture if you want more guidance.

Yup, definitely my first skin, that's why you might see some inconsistencies; I was learning as I go. I've dabbled a lot in digital art though, just never wandered into the realm of 3d before.

As for doing my homework, I've devoured pretty much every tut I can get my hands on. :p

I have a question about the lower part of the skirt. I tried putting some details and some fold lines onto the skirt, but part of the front ends up repeated onto the back, and it just looks a mess, is there anything I can do to improve that?

I scribbled some folds in real quick to show what I mean:

Thanks for all the help, I'll get working on the issues you mentioned.

Indeed, the RoC Elf Villager has a horrible wrap, but the Human Villager's wrap is perfect.

I've approved this skin, because it looks really good.

Oh, and since you're new in this site, I just want you to know about this important message.
The reason I can see your posts and your skin already is that I moderate in this section (along with models and icons, and in art forum sections as well).

Edit: Nevermind. Regular users can see you now. =D

I think this is the only Zelda model done.
And FINALLY!! I've been looking for a Zelda model but didn't really bothered to request for one.
Anyways. I haven't seen it in-game but based on the screenshot, it looks really good ;)
This Zelda model is based on Twilight Princes or SSBB?

Very good. Whats bugs me is the fact that the dress is Twilight Princess style, but her hair is blonde

It was originally supposed to be darker, but I think all the blonde Zeldas of games past seeped into my mind. It's bugging me too now, so I'm gonna try to change it.

It was based on twilight princess, though some details I did alter.

Edit, I made a brunette version, but I'm not sure if I should upload it or not, it doesn't look right for me.

I would in most likelyhood never get use for this skin, but that there is some good work all the same. For a first skin, nice. Very nice. The hair looks a bit brightly coloured, kinda mismatched with the rest of the skin, though, but I don't really know Zelda's hair colour, so...

And plus, it's just a personal opinion xP
