Wizard as a battle-mage

When the Spectral blades will be fixed i would really like to see that the wizard could use shield (mainly thinking of the Shield of Int) so you could be more or less like a battle-mage with the spectral blades spec and weapons n shields.

I believe that would be a fun combo, though i know Wizard is still suppose to be a Wizard so i'm fully prepared to have this idea turned down.
