well, i woke up an hour early this morning, so i ate breakfast and turned my computer on. to my unpleasant surprise, last night's updates (the little yellow shield thing) did not install, and instead windows had failed genuine testing. i know what my product key is and such. Everything has been rather smooth until now, and its bugging me a lot, anyone got ways to solve this?
notes:
apparently im using a volume key, someone from the church gave us one of the computers there cause our old one broke down

Maybe that key has already been registered to Microsoft. Windows updates download a tool called Genuine Advantage or something, which checks whether your Windows key is genuine or not. If it has already been registered, that means that it's not (even if it is, I hope you get what I mean ^^). If Genuine Advantage is installed on your PC and you don't have a valid key, then it slows your computer enormously. Your only option is to reinstall your OS. Sorry

(There is a tool that allows you to update straight from Microsoft without downloading Genuine Advantage, but I doubt it's legal and I also doubt I am allowed to post illegal stuff here)
