Why is There Stand Hit in some Warcraft model

Maybe left-over from the beta phase of the game. The beta looked like a squad-based rts back then.

High probability. My guess would be that its a leftover from an earlier phase of development where units get hit by magical attacks would need to play a cover anim first then could continue combat. Sort of an micro-stuns idea when there was supposed to be multiple types of magic dmg. So each creature would have vulnerability against one sphere of magic and do this when an attack/spell of that magic type is used against him.

The Stand Hit was meant to play when the unit takes damage, like in destructibles such as gates and trees. In the beta there were grunting sounds too, a leftover from the alpha (no stand hit animations played in beta).

No clue about the Death Fire though.

And no, the beta wasn't squad-based.
