what tools to use?

i really would want to start modeling for real, but i dont know which tools should i use... i think im not planning on doing anything other than w3. atm i have blender (not really used), 3dsmax9 (never used), magos' model editor and mdlvis english.

if someone would point me in the right direction then i could move on from the tutorials and try something for myself.

btw i hope getting the tools wont be that much of a problem ^^
so just give other reasons when choosing.
