TD is much more complicated = attack speed, attack damage, upgrades , and races , and varrieties, and gold costs, and lumber cost, and gold-lumber giving system and finnaly the creeps waves, againts Hero defense : modiefy hero skill and put him with some shop and few modiefied items.

Uh you need all those things for both of maps sort of. I mean good hero defense is more then just modified hero and items. You needs to make all those heroes balanced and fun to play and to design many items and also to design enemy unit waves but unlike td where you just give them HP, armor increasing with occasional ability Hero Defense requires attack also and multiple type of units... though honestly for me it is always hero abilities that make the real problem.

Depends what kind of defense you're going to do.

Fact is, both maps are pretty easy to make anyway.
