I normally don't think, but swap "bittersweet" and "everybody dies". I also don't see an ironic ending.

NO U, "everybody dies" has to be godly tier.

The ending of The Mist (Stephen King's book, Frank Darabont's film) is epic.

They commit collateral suicide just before they are rescued.

...These categories of endings are way off. You can have a compelling ending that goes on "Happily ever after" or a shitty ending with a sappy "Victory through hardship" spouting crap. Also, it's funny how there was "TM" after the Happily Ever After, because you might as well put it after all the other choices as well. They're all have the potential to be original or horribly cliche.

This is no different than saying "All good action movies have guns in them." It's a pointless and utterly wrong assumption connecting two irrelevant concepts.
