Well, feature-wise, forums such as vBulletin, IPB, and phpBB3 have quite a lot of features already, more than many people actually use. I cannot think of that many things I would want to add.

However, here's something that NONE of the major forum software packages (IPB, phpBB, vBulletin) have: a truly ACID compliant database, with true foreign key constraints and transactions.

Truth be told, I'm surprised that none of the forums have it yet (probably due to compatibility with older versions of mysql and older server software). Currently, forum software has to rely on weak software enforcement of relationships (which can break under high concurrency) and a bunch of kludgy maintenance tools to rebuild the database anytime data relationships get broken or unsynchronized.
