Weird Problem

Somehow this started happening and I can't trace it to any particular setting change or event. In short, the game lags and stutters horribly when set to fullscreen mode. When set to windowed or windowed (fullscreen) then it plays just fine. From what I read windowed is more resource intensive so this makes no sense. It has nothing to do with my graphics card being up to par or settings being too high. This is normally not a problem because windowed (fullscreen) is actually better than fullscreen (in my opinion), but the editor doesn't have a launch with windowed (fullscreen) option!

Ummm, the editor DOES have a Launch in Windowed option...I'm using it right now.

Go check in the File > Preferences

But it doesn't allow you to launch in windowed (fullscreen). I don't know why it only has 2 of the 3 modes .

If you set it to full screen while it is in windowed, it will stay fullscreen each time you use it.

I loaded a map, made sure windowed was checked, tested it, set it to windowed (fullscreen) while in-game, exited, tested again...and it was still just windowed .

What are your system specs? As this makes no sense.

It could be that your memory is not enough for the extra pixels between full screen and windowed. It could also be that your processor is not enough and where aswindowed forces screen updates, they are dropped in fullscreen. Additionally it might be due to how windows trys to cache background programs resulting in a temporary slowdown.

Also it could be a driver bug (highly likly if there is no other solution) as fullscreen uses a different part of the drivers from windowed display.

What's weird is that it didn't start out like this. This happened a day or two after getting the game...

I will see if there is a driver update since SC2 came out. Any other ideas though?

Are you using anti aliasing ingame via forcing it with the drivers?
