First, sorry guys if this is the wrong forum for this kind of thing

I've encountered a couple of crashes i don't think i've seen before and they seem to occur only during one map in particular from my experience atleast

They seem to happen completely out of random, could someone explain if this is related just generally to wc3 or is it something with the map?

Heres what the Log says:

7/24 19:22:09.882 GameMain Started
7/24 19:22:09.882 Command Line: "-------" (path with info about the guy who reported it)
7/24 19:22:10.788 Telemetry Launch Info:
process_name: "Warcraft III.exe"
parent_process_name: "explorer.exe"
current_expansion_version: "W3XP"
highest_expansion_version: "W3XP"

7/24 21:06:53.730 Accessed Deprecated MPQ for file: ReplaceableTextures\Splats\B_UndeadUberSplat.blp Please import the file into your map to ensure it is available in the future.
7/24 21:06:53.730 Accessed Deprecated MPQ for file: ReplaceableTextures\Water\D_Water00.blp Please import the file into your map to ensure it is available in the future.
7/24 21:06:55.681 Accessed Deprecated MPQ for file: ReplaceableTextures\Water\C_Water00.blp Please import the file into your map to ensure it is available in the future.

also, the file that it's trying to access is always different

I believe some files have been moved to a deprecated mpq because they are unused in the game (I think?), and if I had to guess, they are probably going to be removed. Some custom models and stuff used those assets though.

Try these steps:
  • Get a list of the resources mentioned in that crash log.
  • Download the MPQ editor from here: MPQ Archives - Downloads
  • Open it up, and go to "File > Open Archive" and select "deprecated.mpq"
  • Find those files, right-click each of them and choose "Extract File" to save them to your computer
  • Import them to your map under the correct path. For example, if you extracted B_UndeadUberSplat.blp, you should import it under the path "ReplaceableTextures/Splats/B_UndeadUberSplat.blp".
Do you know what version that person was running on? Maybe that error happens on the 1.30 PTR?

EDIT: Is there a way for you to post the full crash log? The actual crash might be caused by something else. You can PM me if you feel it may have sensitive info.

It wasn't on the PTR; I've tried just manually importing the mentioned files in the crash log

the reason why i posted here is because, even after i import the listed files everytime, the crash just happens again but with different ones so i was starting to get a bit hopeless,
since manually importing hundreds or even thousands of files seems like a bad idea:\

I haven't posted the full log the person sent me because it's not my data and i'm not sure if he'd want some of this posted publicly so i'll just PM it to you

EDIT: also is there a way to send files via private conversations?

Ive still yet to understand why they are depreciating files used by modders. Sure, 8mb limit has been increased, but it doesnt mean modders are instantly going to go in and change texture filepaths overnight :L
