Just thought I should ask this:
Can Blizzard sue you for using their trademarked characters and stuff? Isn't it also illegal to mod the game, because you break the User-License Agreement?
Also, do you have the programmer to actually make the mod (Work the .dll's and mpq's)

Don't want to be a pest, but also don't want you all to lose your money. =D

1, Yes, but they don't. If they did, the community would create a hole big enough to kick Blizzard from the top.
2, Mod, as in change the way the game acts IS indeed illegal. Modifying models though, is not. See, Application Editing breaks the EULA, while changing a few models and editing some stuff isn't illegal. You can actually have your own game, without Blizz above your head.
3, **, no, you don't edit the DLLs, only MPQs. And MPQ editing is simple as in CLICK CLICK CLICK.

It's not illegal... why would they include things like importers? -.-

The only thing they can pull us on is MPQ editing (we don't plan to do that atm anyway) and of course, calling it WcIV.

But looking at it from a greedy companies point of view (i.e Blizzard) they'll probably wave a hand but force us to make it premium and give them 99% of the cash :/

Well, that leaves 1% to us, and due to the awesomeness that our WCIV will irradiate, that means... aproximately... three billion USD for every team meber?

^^
Oh!
Thank you for the info.
I don't know why I thought you edited the DLL's, must of been something I heard when those people were making the Fall of Draenor mod here.

So it is illegal, but you are going to do it anyways. I don't mind that you are breaking the law, I just wanted to know.
Still, we aren't gonna do anything illegal. DLL hacking and changing Starcraft's MPQs IS illegal. Modding them isn't. The mod is in a separate MPQ (.SC2MOD)

FREE BEER... Yeah you know the drill!
1. Stop spamming pointless messages now please.
2. There is no need for CCP if your a team member considering you already get ALL those privileges and more!
3. Dentothor I'm sure TWIF will give you a spot regardless if there is a place or not, your work does you more than enough credit.

Well it would add some repeatable value to the game. Perhaps you could save a town or instead bypass it but later in the campaign you might have to battle in that area again but instead of having an ally you have a town burnt to the ground. Stuff like that. it would be nice not necessarily needed but cool none the less. It would be nice to see that your actions in the campaign somehow impact the world around it. Not you just beat a level and if you beat it no matter how the game is exactly the same as if you beat it a dramatically different way.
