Must to agree with @Chaosy. It doesn't look like hoof. It doesn't look like foot. It just "something". Also your Icon lack of shadows, higlights and your 'slam' sfx looks really flat. Awaiting Update. EDIT: You still haven't any shadows or...

Looks cartoony but I can see it as a hoof stomping the ground. What Maxwell said about making a adding backlight (only to be able to differentiate the main object from the black background) still holds true imo.

You could try making a more meticulous texture work to get that "blizzard feel" next time:

See that yours look cartoony-er because, in the blizzard one, the artist got a very small brush and kept making "stains" and details. This made the surface of his materials (fur, hoof) end up with a bit more of grunge/texture than the clean-looking hoof you got on yours. Good work nonetheless, yours does not look bad anyway
