1607: Black Magic Crusade.
I've temporarily abandoned my other project due to the unfortunate news that arrow-key based movement causes lag in SC2 while playing online (stupid Blizzard), and seeing as I really want to make something this summer, I went back to the drawing board and came up with this. I feel like a single-player RPG is something that's been done before in WC3, done well in WC3, and therefore something I can definitely coordinate. I plan on using Rao Dao Zao's RPG system as a base. So, here's the outline:
What is this project?
I don't plan on giving too much away because that would be a huge hindrance to the effect of the game itself; what's the point in playing a single-player RPG if you already know how the story unfolds? I'll give an outline of the setting, though:
I drew this sexy map by hand, scanned it, and edited it. Why? It's the loading screen. Enjoy!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I work on the map, I'll post screenshots and more detailed information on the way the game works. Everything at the moment is purely conceptual. I will eventually be in need of models and textures, because SC2 does not come equipped with 17th century anything, so keep watch. I'll post requests here (with concept art that I will most likely do myself). I will also post terrain screenshots here. I'm obviously going to do that myself, but seeing as the game will be comprised of multiple, large maps (like a campaign), I may get some more people to help out. Finally, I will definitely need people to code for me. I just can't do that, lol. So I'll also post requests for systems here, and I will probably get someone, like a "main-coder", to work on the map directly.

What is this project?
- Single-player RPG
- A very large world with overland map navigation. The player will travel around from zone to zone on a scaled map, and zoom in for specific areas such as towns, dungeons and individual pieces of zones.
- Strategic, real-time battles between the player's party and the environment.
- A long, semi-"open" story with many encounters and side-quests. Major decisions the player makes will have an effect on the story. For example, players can choose to fight the villains, side with them, or sneakily play both parts (among other choices).
I don't plan on giving too much away because that would be a huge hindrance to the effect of the game itself; what's the point in playing a single-player RPG if you already know how the story unfolds? I'll give an outline of the setting, though:
- Set in a fantasy world emulating an English/Colonial society in the early 17th century. That means witches, black magic, religious zealots, silver bullets, and all that good stuff.
- You play the part of a lesser noble in the Queen's court and a scout for the Royal Army, being sent around the kingdom to deliver important messages and... well... do other scouty stuff.
- Although most games like this tend to revolve around some kind of grand story that involves putting the kingdom in a life-or-death situation, this game will not be quite so dramatic. You won't play the part of some glorious hero who saves the world. This game's story will be a little more down to earth, but I assure you that it won't be boring.
