I'm making a custom race that changes the undead necropolis in such a manner that it wont spawn a haunted gold mine on start, but will make a normal one instead. The workers use the "normal" way of getting gold, walking to the mine and back to the necropolis. Only one problem here, the necropolis can be placed as close as possible next to the goldmine. Is there any way of preventing this?

Try basing it on a human/orc town hall instead? You should be able to change its classifications and give it the right blight generation ability to make it identical to a regular Necropolis.

Works for me, just set ability to Return gold and lumber.
Can only place at a certain distance ingame.

Sure you can place it right next to the gold mine in the editor, but that doesn't really matter.
