TrollGatherer

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
These are the main persons of each Troll village and town. The gatherers! They gather food and lumber for the other Trolls and they form the starting combat unit, like the Ghoul from the Undead. They can carry more wood than most other lumberers, with the goblind shredders as the only exception. They can carry a lot of meat too. Although they're gifted hunters and lumberers, their main task is protecting their village. They also form the largest part of each Troll village militia. They do a quite good damage with their heave machettes, but their main drawbacks are that they're unarmored and not as skilled as a tribal warrior. The main strength of these gatherers is their huge number. Each village usually has more Gatherers and fewer warriors and seldomly cavalry. Another advantage of these guys is that they have quite low production costs.

EDIT 1: re-made the model, this time i used the peasant's skeleton & anims, as the peon's had some problems.

EDIT 2: Fixed the issues of his right shoulder and left tigh. Both were just vertex-assignment problems (i.e. the corresponding vertices assigned to the wrong bones). Also removed 2 Replaceable ID 0 which were present @ the model.

EDIT 3: fixed the arm & hand issues during the lumber anims.

EDIT 4: optimized the model, filesize is decreased now, but in any other way it's the same.

Misha 2nd Jan 2014 Moderator's Review: his left thigh is not that nicely rigged, and it distorts in the anims, same as his right shoulder.. but be sure to check the other parts too. I'm also not sure if war3 even recognizes the word...

I'm also not sure if war3 even recognizes the word 'meat', maybe 'flesh' would be a better idea.. or 'gold' i dunno... speakin' of meat, that big piece is a lill bit too jiggly and could use being a lot more rigid. it also could use a bone at the place he is holding it. top of your cleaver could be lill better wrapped, maybe?

MiniMage: I can't see that much issues with the model besides the lumber animations. The arm is looking a little derpy, please fix that asap.

MiniMage: The arm still needs work in the lumber animations.

interesting

he looks quite neat, I like it.
7/10 the weapon looks nice but the models feet look kinda off, too thin? not sure, its as though the ankle doesn't exist. but that's probably the screen shot's angle's fault.
No, it's unfortunately true. The skeleton of the model (incl. anims) were a bit badly chosen. I'll remake the model with the peasant's anims & skeleton.

It's a really nice, useful concept, but the animations are pretty strange. He has bad walking gait and his arms/feet look out of place in his attack animation - arguably the two most important animations for a worker
Ty :ogre_hurrhurr: same as above.

It´s very cool, edited animations, pretty cool model edit. But look on it´s ass during attack - 2 ... :D

Thx :ogre_hurrhurr: the entire model will be fixed soon.

Nice hairdo, refreshing to see one among all the troll mohawks. Also, does the Meat animation tag actually work?
hehe, ty :ogre_haosis: It will need some help from triggers, otherwise it might work when the Troll is mining.

Nice Animations ^^
thx, although after a second look i must say, they're quite lacking....especially attack 2 is creepy. :vw_sad:

I'd like the meat!
And the lumber, gold!
Of course the model itself I like!
It's a "brand new" troll.
hehe, thx :ogre_haosis: Well, my idea while making it was: "There are already Troll Models that gather gold and lumber, so let's better give the Troll race a model like the Ghoul for the Undead: combat and lumbering unit." First, i wanted to give him an axe, coz it fits more as a lumbering tool, but then i reconsidered it. I just though it would be pitty if the gold anims are deleted, so i added him a machette (koukri) and replaced the gold with a bunch of raw meat wrapped in some skin/fur. I saw a map on the Hive where units costed food like in Age of Empires, so i thought this Troll would be a nice model for such economy systems.

you could always compensate like I did and use attachment art instead, delete his weapon, so he slaps with nothing, then some trolls could have axes and some could have machetes. or other things even. the idea was to eliminate uniformity which worked for me.
=/
a thought any way lol

Excellent forest troll worker.
thx a lot! :)

yeah, i agree with that. Uniformity is IMO partialy the key to boredom, sometimes. :(

Hey, will you fix this model any time soon, because I think this is in fact a useful addition to the databse.
Hi! Thx for your feedback! :) Yup, i'm actually planning to make a big fix/improvement at this and maybe a few others of my previous models, plus maybe making a few new ones during Xmas.
