It's very calming in a way, but please tell me, where did you get that stone path texture :)

For me there's a bit "too" much glow for it to be a darkly fogged, and presumably night-time shot.
If it's so light, wouldn't it presumably not be night? ;)

I was basically trying to attain a slightly haunted and eerie vibe to the atmosphere. Sort of how Tirisfal Glades is eternally gloomy but still pretty lit up by the blighted sky.

That, and the horizon has a awfully slight "end of the world" feel to it.
I don't see it, sorry. Besides there's very little I can do to remedy that, I've squeezed three layers into very little space already.

Other than that: Yeah, well.
That bad?

Another question, where are the stairs from? :D I'd love to use them in my RPG.

Adding another layer of hills barely visible in the fog a good distance above the current horizon might remedy my "feeling,"
I guess it's the way the center "window" thing/arch structure, well whatever it is only shows sky behind it.

Concerning the lighting, well I just made the connection with black fog contradicting the otherwise yellow-ish glow,
though if you say so...
For me there could be less glow and it would still look great, but yeah, another layer of mountains in the background wouldn't hurt.

No, it's not that bad.

Actually, a tad more elevation to the foreground wouldn't hurt either,
if only just some minor changes like lowering the road part a bit more than the rest,
currently to me it seems a bit too flat. Oh and that minor space in front of the stairs
look a bit too tidy, and somehow very bright compared to other grassy parts of the
terrain.

Thanks for the help fladdermasken, thanks to you I have a lot more tiles for the snowy mountains. from 30% of the map, now they will be around 35-40%.

Very eerie and -quaint-, good stuff Fladdy.
I think the only issues are some of the very glaring proportional incongruence of the trees and to a lesser extent the rock formations. Also, though they are a good idea, making those windows glow is terrible in practice is a technique that I've never much liked the look of.

The right side is the BEST part of the piece. You have an interesting depth of shape and overlay and it's just wonderful. Everything else is kind of meh.
Keep up the work of the brave!

There. Updated. I actually went ahead and tried to redeem my lazy self a bit and follow the pointers. Thanks for feedback and stuff.

To sum things up: I pushed the mist around to show off a little more of the good stuff and dimmed the lighting to give way for a slightly darker atmosphere. I also cut the top parts of the tower-like structures because I realized they undermined the mansion. Finally I paved the road a tad to make shit seem less flat, removed the window glow and fixed the incongruence issue with the trees.

Bon Appétit

Ah, I get your point now. I can't make anything even barely vissible on the far side of the mansion though, the fog is way too thick and messing with it will probably only kill some of the foreground, so I'll have to leave it be.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant the visible limits. After that, like I said, the fog gets nasty.

Ah, much better.

One final little detail I'd like to point out is the rock formation on the right-hand side of the screen,
to me it seems like all three vertical rocks are facing the same direction, making them look like copies of one-another.

Other than that, this terrain really is a fine piece.
