Okay 2 questions:
oh and btw, I've searched the forums for anything similar and I came upon this thread here: http://hiveworkshop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33708&highlight=tree
but it didn't answer my question, since Tooolbox only posted an action and no event, so I didn't know exactly what specific event to use?

1. I'm trying to figure out how to prevent my trees from dying due to lumbering by Goblin Shredders, Human Peasant and Orc Peons? Sort of like the trees in the Vampirism games on WCIII's custom camapaigns.

2. Will the trees die due to the result of a Flame Strike or Force of Nature, even if they aren't effected by lumbering?

Edit:
Thanks a MILLION you guys! IT WORKS!

  • Untitled Trigger 001
    • Events
      • Destructible - A destructible within (Playable map area) dies
    • Conditions
    • Actions
You could also select a specific region instead of the entire Map.

To make trees immune to lumbering change the Destructible's object editor field:

Combat - Targeted As from Tree to something else.

Changing it to Invulnerable should make it immune to most other attacks.

If you also want to, you can find the skill like flamestrike, and turn off the flag for trees in targets. =o

a little bit of a problem

Um, so far I've changed the field of the Tree in the Object Editor. I've unchecked Tree to Invulnerable, but then the gatherers aren't able to lumber anymore?, I tried checking both Tree and Invulnerable, and they are gathering, but the trees are dying? Was there something specific that I'm supposed to check?

So instead I'm going to try to use triggers instead.
So far I've got:

  • Spawn Trees
    • Events
      • Destructible - A destructible within (Playable map area) dies
    • Conditions
    • Actions
      • Destructible - Resurrect (Picked destructible) with (Max life of (Last created destructible)) life and Show birth animation
is that action correct? I'm sort of confused on the part of "picked destructible". So where do I "pick" the specific destructible, the Ashenvale Tree Wall in this case?

To resurrect them use "Dying Destructible" instead of "Picked."

And yes, changing trees' target type does make them un-harvestable. You could also consider giving them the maximum hit points to keep them standing longer. (100,000 maybe? not sure what the max is.)

Create a Tree Revival System might be an excellent solution to this problem.

Thank You, one more.... thing.

Thanks a lot! but um, forgive my noobyness, but where is the "map custom header", the reason being, is because Hero12341234 instructs in his tutorial to "Copy and Paste these functions below into your map's custom header."

Like I've looked almost everywhere, Scenario, File, Edit, Advanced, Module and so on...

Raszagal: yep, famouspker49 is exactly right! It's a blue map icon in the extreme upper left of the Trigger Editor.

Also be sure to grab the demo map included with the tutorial so that you can just copy and paste the script into your own map.

  • Events
    • Destructible - A destructible within (Playable map area) dies
this event actually registers first 64 trees with your trigger. don't use it like that unless you have less then 60 trees in your map. (although you could divide your map into couple of regions and use the event on those...)

for your questions, just go with the hit points.
