As for your problem... try making ability like the Rifleman Long Rifles, and when unit has bow equipped, add ability to unit.

There's also a cool way! Make an Ability by starting with Searing Arrows, change the model 2 Units-Missiles then Archer missile, change the Hero ability to false & Item Ability 2 true, then make it only 1 level not 3, then change the damage, it doesnt cost mana at all!
I created & colored few bows using this & it worked greatly, if u didnt turn the Bow ability on the character will use weak melee attacks with your short bow!

Ummmm I looked 4 Long Rifles but didnt find it in abilities because ther Upgrades, I really appreciate your help after all!

Eh forgot its an ability, u have this problems when u don't look at WE and just from memory. If u have any other questions feel free to ask, i'll answer if I can, but use the right forum sections.
