After leaving Strahnbrad through the improvised back entrance (the hole in the backwall the orcs came through), Thornby and his small number armed volunteers and foot soldier approach the foothills of the Alterac Mountains.

A chasm that leads to the mountain summit blows with a piercing cold wind, as they come across depleted supplies and trash laying around from the numerous orcs that travelled through there over the years.
They decide to salvage whatever they can from it (lumber, bones, food scraps preserved by the cold and some rags), but the larges volume of scraps is being guarded by a towering mountain Ogre.

Thornby, overconfident as he always is, faces the giant. The beast is tanky, powerful, but slow and lacks any form of armor. Thornby utilizes his agility and manages to slay the ogre and gather the remainder of supplies.

Decently stocked up, they finally near the summit, where an Ice Troll scout and a Raider stand on the eventual look-out over the lowlands.

The Orcs are very self aware of their defeat and the Blackrock clan, with their diminished numbers are having trouble keeping up with the rest of the savage orc clans that inhabit the mountains.

Normally, they would always be at a cold war / passive with each other, but in winter with limited resources, the tension between clans always spiked up. The blackrock clan has always been the superior over all other clans and would often raid from them.

The Scouts take no risks and immediately tell the nearby champion; Cascrei the Gusher. They interpreted Thornby was leading a human scouting force and that where would be more coming if they were discovered. Cascrei decided to take matters in his own hands and deal with them. He ordered the others that if were he slain in battle, the Orc Catapults would be used to collapse the Summit, creating a barrier down in the chasm, preventing any human reinforcements from reaching the mountains.

In battle, several of the volunteering armed civilians were badly cut, but Thornby patched them up with the rags he acquired earlier.

The catapults aimed up and collapsed the summit when Cascrei died. Thorby now realised he is trapped in alterac.
