Thornby Gaiasteel is a young, promising knight that always looked at the alliance as the only thing that really mattered to him most.
One day, on behalf of Uther, Thornby was made a lieutenant after proving his devotion and strength on the battlefield against a band of Ice Trolls immigrated down from the Alterac mountains in the cold, early days of winter.
His pride quickly boiled over, though. In Uther's absence to deal with an orc invasion on Strahnbrad, Thornby became cocky and hated by the populace. He lives in the capital city, not too far from the royal palace and one day, he was called out to the throne room.
King Terenas flat out hated his personality, his young, prideful adventurers spirit and flat out decides to send him on an escort to hunt down a small group of orc refugees into the alterac mountains, well knowing that 5 of the most savage orc clans made those mountains their home.
Thornby naively accepts the task and arrives at the remnants of Strahnbrad 3 days after departing. He got sent out with no troops, no supplies and convinced there would only be several orc stragglers to be hunted down.
Seargant Mukov happens to be at the town at the time of Thornby's arrival. He's stationed there with a mid-sized garrison of combat troops, assigned to guide the survivors into rehabitizing Strahnbrad before winter, as all the carnage from the attack will likely attract Frostwolves and other unwanted visitors from the nearby winter.
Thornby aids the villagers, helps them with relatively small tasks and most he helped to their best to grand him whatever supplies they can miss, sometimes even choosing to tag along with them to avenge the tragedy the Orcs have wrecked upon them.
After scraping up and receiving whatever aid he can, he enters the mountain summit and starts his ascent into the treasurous wastes.
