The Real Life

A Couple Of Words:
I would first like to say hi to everyone on the forums at The Hive Workshop. I have always been around here, but never really registered or posted on the forums. Well the time has come to get involved. I hope you like the idea of map as i tried to make it as original as possible.

How the Idea came about and why?:

Have you ever played Loap or those other so called real life maps? Well i have, yeah their fun and everything but they don't show the true real life. Most are very unbalanced giving one person too much control int he game. This becomes very annoying. Some Examples would be the police were way to powerful and when you get a jerk off as the police the game becomes ruined. Especially with all those modified maps such as Loap Death and God or the martial arts ones. Well i began to get tired of the unbalances. One of the better maps was Real Life for Morons, but it wasn't pointed to the real life idea. The only map that i enjoyed playing was a map that i don't even have anymore, it made long ago before loap and all that other B.S. It was called Real Life (I Think V1.0 lol). It was not even close to being done and only had a few features. This is where the ideas began in what i could do.

Okay, so hopefully your still reading lol. My map has been in creation for years lol (I have taken many LONG LONG breaks on it :ugly:

) It is kind of near completion, bu still needs a lot of things done to it. The basic idea of my map is to combine LOAP, Real Life for Morons, And Real Life all into one. This will get rid off all the unbalanced parts of these maps and make an enjoyable map that no one will get bored off of. Hopefully this will become the next biggest Real Life Map on warcraft. The map will have many differences from what is seen now on warcraft. You will start out as a kid and be limited to certain things in game. You will have to go to school to get an education. With an education you will be able to have more job opportunities in your life. You will eventually move on to bigger things like high school, College and so on. When going threw the school system you will have to pick and study different degrees. When studying different degrees you will have different job offers. Say if you take the law enforcement path you will be able to be a judge or officer once you graduate. You will be given save/load codes because it will be unlikely to get all the way threw college in one game. Of course you can get married and what not and do all sorts of features that will be listed later.

Wait you said you can be the police? How can you balance it so players are still even?

Ahh, well yes you can become a police officer, but The Whole Police Force is controlled by the computer. You are only one officer that is not. You have no control over how long people stay in jail, You can't kill anyone for no reason, and you can't even arrest anyone for no reason. This is how i hope to balance the police. If you become a officer you are aloud to arrest people but it will be based off of a voting system, This means that there is going to be a judge and the people decide. The judge will decide along with the people as to if the person should go to jail. It will be based off of a major percentage system. You get to do a lot more like confiscate drugs and investigate growing mobs in certain parts of the city. You will need a house to live at as you will slowly become tired and need to sleep, eat, and use the bathroom lol. You will also need to fill your cars with gas over time and they can break down.

In Development:

Right now i'm still trying to think how i am going to incorporate sleeping, eating and using the bathroom into your character. Still trying to do the school system, should i make it easy or complicated to get a degree?

I'm in need of ideas!!!

My main focus right now is the school... Should i make it so you have to answer school related questions to get experience? Or Should i make it so you just go there for the day and sit around? Please help with that.

I am Open to any suggestions please post below!!!! Sorry for typing so much LOL!!!!

Make easy questions in school, i prefer math (50x25) or 25+10 and 2+2

It will be good way for school and make these numbers random for each lesson

For hard questions like sqrt(8281) you can give more exp...

But people will just use calculator... xD

Thanks for the ideas, i will be posting some screen shots shortly.. I have played many of real life for morons and that's what i intend to incorporate into the map as well

Thats a good question. Well i didn't want to make his job so he just walks around and get paid. Most likely he will have goals/missions to complete for the city. then he will get paid. How does that sound?

The rock collector is a job were you have to go around the city and collect rocks the rarer they are the more money you get.
As for the DJ you pretty much control a night club using songs from the game. You also get to controll strobe lights floor lights and fog effects.

Wow so your basically making another loap map, hiding from cops going to skool, why dont you make A REAL LIFE SIMULATION GAME thats not a copy of loap, just a suggection

There are houses, for the release version it will include apartments, regular houses and mansions. When owning an apartment you pay monthly and it never stops just like you would in real life. Inside the houses there are all ready preset things like beds counters and what not. In later version i hope to make it so you can customize your own house.

About selling stuff. Right now it's all different kinds of items that help your character out in life. If you become so successful you can access a secret shop where you can buy Items that will make the game play easier. Like not having to sleep anymore or not having t take a bath. I am thinking about adding a gym where your character can become more stronger and what not, but i am still unsure.

As for bodyguards i will probably include them, but make them very limited.

For school i am not really worried if you skip school or not because it's your choice in the game. If you don't go to school you don't get a good job unless you work extra hard. If you go to school, which will be recommended you will become successful more easier, but it may take some time.

There will be trash that will be created in front of people's houses and the garbage men will need to come pick it up as well.

Now, i don't plan to make a copy of loap, i plan to make my own map something original, yes there will be ideas from loap maps, but they will not be the same in anyway. That's why your character must sleep, get washed, and eat to survive. I had started this map almost before LOAP was even known, but i quit warcraft for a while and decided to come back. Now there are many other great maps to learn and get ideas from as well. I promise you this will be no ordinary LOAP map it will be based off of real life.

nice hope to see screenshots (hope the terrain isnt like LOAP)
and heres an idea, u can attack random people and then when u do, they become hostile and attack u. then when u kill em u can take there money and items or even attacking dogs and animals that become aggressive would be cool

I am the creator of "Real Life". If there's noone else who has made a map with the same name. And it's good to see other people trying to make real life maps

I've started countless real life maps over the last 5 past years, but allways left them behind because I felt I could do so much better. But some of those maps had some very cool features. Like in one map, all the npc's in the city had their own life. You could follow a npc around and see him/her do things. They could be shopping, eating, buy a car and drive around, etc. They could also communicate with the players. They would for an example say something to you if you smelled bad, or if you dressed nice they would compliment you. Players would have to take showers in order to smell good

Some NPC's could even follow you, wait untill you were alone, kill you and take your money.

But that system was so complex it messed with other triggers in the map, and it caused some lag. It took nearly 300 variables and about 60 triggers to make it work.

Oh, btw. I'm making a Real Life map myself. But it's not stuffed with cool stuff. It's focused on real gameplay. Two gangs fight eachother. You can hire staff, buy houses to increase max army size, and buy alot of items to make your gang fight better.

I think you should have a level/some other form of requirement for each job. Like you can't be a scientist or whatever unless you have a PHd in Science or something.

That idea sounds really cool, but like you said it would take a lot of time to complete and most likely include a lot of complex triggers. Your idea of a real life map sounds like ti would be as well. Look forward to seeing it.

BTW everyone i got some screen shots up. Yeah there not the best just a basic idea of what it's going to look like. Terrain is not even close to being done yet as well.
