Q: What is Lore & Legends?
A: Lore & Legends is a rebranding for all existing and future Warcraft 3 projects created by OutsiderXE. It implies all of these projects share the same detailed continuity.

Q: What future plans do you have regarding Lore & Legends?
A: The SD versions of Lord of the Clans, Day of the Dragon and The Last Guardians are in maintenance mode. Future updates will focus on minor bugfixes.
Completely new campaigns and HD versions for existing campaigns are currently in development.

Q: May I update your campaigns? May I add a new language?
A: All of my campaigns are open source. You can change and upload them freely provided you don't change the original credits (you may add to them). If you want to add a different language, please contact me via Discord.

Q: What order should I play the campaigns in?
A: Each campaign can be enjoyed independently. The order by lore is: The Last Guardian -> Day of the Dragon -> Lord of the Clans.

Original Release Notes
Phewww, made it :D for the third time! And hard it was this time. I had said once that I would rather cut off my hands than create another campaign (though in the meantime I broke my leg, so I guess that counts too...) but in December 2007 I was so bored that I tried to create a map to see how an exterior-Karazhan would look like, and 20 months later a campaign was born, based on the book "The Last Guardian". This campaign is so much different than my other projects. An experiment. This book has so much text that I thought it was inpsossible to create something playable, until I had the idea to create a point and click adventure. In February 2008 I had to do military service in greece so I had much time to think of the gameplay elements. I returned 5 months later and neither worked nor went to school for about 2 months. In september I started doing both and the 5 months I had initially planned to finish this project became 20 (- 5 military actually). What am i going to do now? NOT promise that i'm not going to make another campaign...

This campaign may only be distributed with this Readme-Document. send complaints, praise, hints and information to [removed]. As long as I am not on vacation or in jail (joking^^... I'm never on vacation ;-D) I will answer every E-Mail within a day.

Try to use your spell book against slimes.

The statue fighting will be remade in next version which was mentioned by OutsiderXE (#796).

Hi,OutsiderXE.Patch 1.31.0 and 1.31.1 have caused an odd camera bug which could probably influence every cutscence in custom campaigns.Maybe the camera was ajusted a bit yards,maybe the sizes of doodads were changed a little.Take a look at the screenshot below:

This wall isn't supposed to block players' sight,is it?Such a bug occured not only in your current version(1.05) but also in your test version(2.20).

There was another common bug caused by patch 1.31.Some doodads(e.g. the carpet under the table)kept fading in&out swiftly:

I've been replaying this campaign for the last 5-6 days after like 5 years, on patch 1.31.1.something, normal difficulty, newest patch, and I must say I'm amazed. Know I said that Day of the Dragon was my favorite of all your campaigns, but I changed my mind. I don't know what can top this. It's truly epic, a masterpiece, original, interesting and I had a blast.

Things I liked the most:

-The terrain was nailed. Everything about the terrain is epic. Karazhan looks like a spooky palace from both outside and inside, Dalaran really looks like a magical city. Stormwind is just gorgeous. And the swamp and orc's burning the town looks really epic.
-The campaign really feels like you're reading the book/watching the movie and playing the campaign at the same time.
-You're playing with Khadgar, the most powerful mage in WoW(apart from Jaina) and he really feels powerful from the beginning and getting even more powerful as the story progresses, Medivh feels even a lot more powerful than Khadgar, and that's lovely.
-Finding all tomes and Medivh ghosts.
-The bossfights in the last chapter and Medivh in the end.

Two things i didn't like:
-Unneeded items. I think that finding and using all items would be more epic. Difficulty could be adjusted with harder puzzles and harder chests to open.
-Chest opening items. There is no point investing in lockpicking. It should be either invest in the skill or have a hard time finding the right combination.

Bugs:
In all those chapters i didn't find a single bug, which is beyond impressive. The bugs are in the interludes.
-The interlude where Aegwynn is fighting the avatar does not appear in the campaign loading screen.
-In the prologue some archmages and priests are standing vertically on the walls.
-In the interludes where Aegwynn fights the Avatar, Khadgar and Medivh are first talking behind the wall, then later behind a column.

Chapters and interludes:
Here you might find some nitpicking, but the campaign is amazing so what can I do :p
Prologue: I like the Prologue very much. Dalaran really feels magical. But the thing I don't like is that dialog that explains Arrexis moves a little too fast. Also Dalaran is stuffed with blood elves, blood elven footmen, blood elven priests, blood elven sorceresses, blood elven spellbreakers. Blood elves didn't exist in TLG time. Blood elven spellbreakers didn't even exist (what's the point of stealing magic when you have the whole Sunwell). Spell breakers should go, and give priest and sorceresses RoC high elven skins. Also the whole city guard seems to be elven, there are to many elves, and Dalaran is mostely a human city. Human footmen could replace the elven ones. A lot less elven archers. Chaplins could replace some priests, and add more human spellcasters (type human mage in search, you'll find dozen human casters). The four mages imo need better models. All of them are humans and they use elven and dwarven models. The worst is Alonda, she needs a new model desperately. She is a female and a model is a male. She is human and the model is (blood) elven. The model is a Demon Hunter, the only Demon Hunter at TLG time was on the other side of the world, imprisoned under the Earth, carefully guarded, so he/she being a Demon Hunter makes absolutely no sense. The other three could also use a new model, there are dozens of Jaina skins and Archmages on foot models(type human mage in search).
Chapter 1: Loved it. Perfect as it is. Looks really spooky. The only problem I noticed was that a bandit in the beginning was purple color rather than neutral hostile. My favorite part was when helping the zombie.
Chapter 2: Chapter two is also amazing. Loved talking to Medivh. Alchemy is a really well made skill. The only thing that you could change in the chapter is when Khadgar sees himself fighting on Outland, you could change the knight to standard WC3 as it more closely resemble WC2 knight, and add enemy ogres. Medivh could also use a different attack missile, black dragon missile perhaps, would make him look more powerful.
Chapter 3: Looks like a spooky swamp. Best part was hunting the bird and cutting Lothar's hair, and talking to the orcs. The only problem with this chapter is that Lothar stands in the middle of everything, so when you go from one place on the map to the other you trigger the dialog which you don't want to more often than not. Move him somewhere. Also noticed that orc warlock corpses are purple instead of red. You could also give the warlocks Gul'dan model as it would fit a WC1 warlock better.
Interlude: Amazing interlude I loved it. Feels really epic. The only thing is that Aegwynn and Avatar could be more powerful. Like Aegwynn moving her staff and arcane and frost explosions happening all around, Aegwynn could use a frost wyrm missile would make her more powerful. The Avatar could also use more powerful spells like Raign of Chaos, Doom on a dragon, Chaos attack that Archemond has that does a lot of damage(forgot the name). Also would be cool to see more variety of demons not just doomguards and hounds, but also felguards, succubi and infernal machines. Noticed two more things, man you hate blue dragons(lol) and there are too many bronze and green dragons, replace some with red, cause the red dragonflight is a couple of times more numerous than all the rest combined.
Chapter 4: My favorite chapter. Stormwind just looks epic. Love the part of solving mysteries, everyone being shady and corrupt, and the part with firemen was really funny. Things I don't like is that I think that WoW Stormwind theme is simply too epic to be a secret item. It could play automatically when Kadgar and Medivh arrive in Stormwind or when you enter the keep. Again the city is filled with blood elves(blood elves in Stormwind, really?), change some with human casters, WC1 conjurer would be perfect here, and give the others high elven skins, and add some dwarves. Also change the night elves in the vision with highborne(talk about nitpicking). Would also be cool if we could enter the cathedral and have something to do with the corrupt clergy.
Chapter 5: Awesome, loved the parts with Garona and fighting the demon, in this chapter you really see Medivh becoming evil. The only thing is that Medivh and Aegwynn could use more epic spells during their battle.
Chapter 6: Awesome, especially loved controlling Khadgar and Garona at the same time, though I noticed that Garona dosn't gain experience, why not? Best part was fooling the orcs and humans, and teleporting everything.
Interlude: I love it. It really makes the story complete and is very interesting.
Chapter 7: Epic. Really feels like a demon infested creepy castle. Loved all the boss fights, especially Medivh that combines all the boss fights. The bosses could use more original models though.
edit: In this chapter Garona has the same problem as Lothar in chapter 3, but on a slightly lesser scale.
Epilogue: Perfect conclusion to this awesome campaign.

Thank you for your detailed feedback! Once I have completed the updates for DotD and LotC I will return to TLG to update it with collected suggestions.

- Replacing (blood) elves with human models: I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. Personally I don't immediately think of a specific faction when I see a specific unit type - It's just armor. But I understand your point and I also think it would be better to replace the current models with WC1 era models.
- Garona not gaining experience: This is due to the fact that she cannot be played in Chapter 7. It would be cool if I could find a way to use her skills, at least for some of the quests, but for now I will leave is as it it.
- Adding cooler effects to fight in cinematics: This is one of my weak points. I always find it cumbersome to come up with a cool combat choreography and cool effects. I will look at it but no promises.

- Secret music item: I absolutely love it just like it is^^
- making puzzles harder in higher difficulties: Coming up with puzzles is a really difficult process. The problem is to not make them feel like fetch quests (DotD Chapter 4 does this too much) and not make them too gimmicky so players won't know what to do/are not able to use their learned skills. Changing them for a higher difficulty will ultimately lead to having more/longer puzzles, and I would much rather add these puzzles to all difficulties so all players can enjoy. The easy solution, as you know, is to make useless items that confuse players.
- Making useless items useful: I'm afraid this would also lead to just having more/longer puzzles. I am also not 100% convinced of the way this works right now but you just gave me the idea to turn all useless items into "secret" items. I mena, give them some sort of special use/lore descriptions/funny interactions with characters/etc. At least for some of them.
- Removing Chest Keys: Hmm maybe I will reduce the number of pins they open or move them to the Easy difficulty.
- Lothar in the middle of the street: Does the Circle of Power not help? If not I might have to remake the terrain in that area to fit him in.

Not really. I mean it helps if you go click by click, slowly moving. But if you move fast using the spell/potion and/or the minimap, you will always step right onto the circle. exe when going from the camp to count bodies the path leads straight across the circle. Or from the force field to the statue. The circle helps Garona in chapter 7 a little more, but i also experienced the situation with her a few times as well.

Turning some into secret/lore/funny stuff would be cool, but above all else make them somehow expendable. Imo leaving some items on the floor or in the inventory is really doesn't fit the campaign.

Could anyone explain the reasoning for some of the items in certain chapters?

Chapter 1 : Leather Gloves, Ceremony Book, and Gem.

Chapter 2 : Ancient Figurine, Voodoo Doll

Chapter 3 : Spider's Ring, Pink Boots, Tattered Cloak, and a Branch.

They disappear between chapters and I can't seem to find what their importance is. I've looked everywhere, or at least I think I've looked everywhere.

I only got as far as 3 so far.

This is by far the best custom campaign I've ever played :ogre_love: You've kept to the lore in the books as much as you could and your map design is just pristine. The puzzles are engaging and very well made. The highlight of the campaign is of course the final chapter with the unique combat, just marvelous. I hope to see your current and new work on reforged! Thank you for such awesome campaigns! :goblin_good_job:

I have had a chance to look at Reforged. Considering the massive effort required to make appropriate custom models and my limited time to work on Lord of the Clans, I think it's best upload the current open beta version of DotD and TLG to Hiveworkshop. I will do this in the next few weeks, after playing through each campaign 1-2 more times; definitely before Christmas.

I have started working on some cool ideas for LotC 3.0, but I really don't know when I will get to it. Maybe LotC will have a chance to be updated with full Reforged support (because LotC also has the least amount of custom assets), and then DotD and TLG will follow later. No ETA on LotC 3.0; it is effectively on hold.

I played this campaign like 5 years ago I think.. and it was awesome ! definetely one of the best custom campaigns ever made and also lore accurate, keep up the good work !

I got tired of people uploading YouTube videos of and commenting on the "old" 2.1.0, so I updated the campaign on Hiveworkshop to 2.2.0 Beta 1. While "beta" clearly means it's not 100% finished, I am confident that this is the overall better experience.

Please be aware that I have had not time to update the entire description. The update to LotC is on hold until further notice (I really need a break and to focus on other things now).

Not bugs. Features ;)
Pillar of Flame is intentionally small to make up for the low mana and low cooldown.
You can remove the Realm of Time buff if you cast it again on a unit. Maybe it lacks a desciption in the spell? Can't see it right now.

The Last Guardian Beta 2.2.0 Review


SPOILERS for the campaign!!!




Pros-

1. I love the simplicity of the puzzles, I know for some people, the puzzle aspect can be easier or more difficult depending on the player. Personally I was able to finish all of the puzzles without a walkthrough. Granted I did play this campaign before so I do remember some of the solutions from earlier versions of this campaign.

2. The environments, especially Karazhan look really good, even with a lot of vanilla Warcraft 3 assets, it does help you get immersed into the world.

3. The option to choose between an adventure mode camera or the standard RTS camera. I am personally not really a big fan of fixed cameras in games, so this option is very much appreciated.

4. The characters feel very true to their lore counterparts, it's been years since I read the novel, but I am not sure if some of the lines were ripped straight from the book or if most of them were original inclusions

Cons-

1. I found Khadgar's focus ability to get kind of useless, it was never really helpful when finding objects in my playthroughs or revealing fog of war. I usually could find what I was looking for on my own. Maybe that's just me.

2. The campaign is a little too short, even though there are longer missions like the Stormwind mission or the Magus's fall section. I felt the campaign went way too quickly, almost like 1/3rd of the campaign got cut in the last minute. Considering there are only 7 missions, 2 to 3 of them you could beat in 15 to 25 minutes. And the rest you could beat within 40 to an hour at most. It does a little to be desired. Making the epilogue playable would definitely go a long way, especially if it provided a transition for Khadgar from his Warcraft 1 to his Warcraft 2 counterpart, maybe see him becoming more prominent in the Alliance's military. Or give him a few scenes where he fights side by side with Lothar. Also being able to play as Aegwyn during her battle with the Avatar of Sargeras would have been a really nice touch, even if the mission was designed to be very linear.

3. Sorry to sound like a broken record, since I had a similar comment in my Day of the Dragon review. But, the repetitive vanilla Warcraft 3 music is still annoying to listen to, since the cutscenes and some of the boss battles do use WoW music, it does make me wonder why the regular missions don't get the same treatment. At least a little variety in the soundtracks of each mission, maybe even recycle Warcraft 1 music for the Black Morass mission. Sure one could shut the music off, but considering all of the work you put in the enviroments, repetitive music is mostly counterproductive to getting players immersed in your campaign, IMO.


Still a great campaign, even if it's too short, you can always binge play the game in less than a day. Which for some players is preferrable to long form 50 hour campaigns.

I think it's probably too long for newbies who have never read the origin novel.But of course OutsiderXE could add some flashback missions in the future:

- The battle between Sargeras and Aegwyn.
- The loneliness,humiliation and despair of Garona.

@nuck001 Elwynn Forest theme wouldn't fit chapter 6. It just doesn't sound like orcs burning human villages. If you look at WoW music, I think Burning Steps theme would do a much better job here.
Chapter four already has a WoW Stormwind theme music, you just have to find it ;)

@Formidable10 this isn't meant to be a normal Campaign. This was meant to be a movie, like reading the book while playing the Campaign, and that's why it's not so long and why it's supposed to be played with fixed camera. It doesn't have unnecesarry quests and doesn't get away from the book's/movie's plot. Think of it as a more cannon version of the Warcraft Movie, which was also 90% based on the book "The Last Guardian". Making Aegwynn playable would just ruin the movie. She's the all powerful mysterious character, that the main protagonist has to find out about and stuff...

With puzzle-based games the playtime is significantly impacted by your knowledge of the puzzles. If you know them you will blast right through them. If you don't know them, the very least you will do is look around trying to find stuff.

People have suggested making the puzzles more complicated on higher difficulty levels, but it's not that simple. In normal RTS/RPG games you can just add additional enemies; in TLG the puzzles have to be connected to each other and be believeable in the game world. For each puzzle I would have to come up with something new that goes beyond a simple "just have one more item that needs to be mixed". Where will that item be placed? How do people get to it? Will that be another puzzle? Instead I decided to decrease the number of hints.

I also added more useless items on higher difficulties. I know that the useless items cause another problematic layer, because players always feel like they want to use items; in the very least they would like to get a reward for using the items. But what sort of reward? Boosts to stats don't affect the experience as much as in other games; and I certainly don't want you to become overpowered when the higher difficulty was designed to make it harder on you. Maybe some sort of lore-reward, but that would require a lot of effort I am not willing to put in right now.

People who have played the 1.x version of the campaign will also remember that the maps used to be bigger and have more and longer puzzles. I cut the content that I thought was boring (e.g. simple fetch quests) or overly complicated (like Song of Aegwynn puzzle).

About adding more storylines from other characters. As I wrote in a post about DotD a few days ago, games are never really complete. You can always add more content and more features. Having additional side characters with unique abilities on their own missions sounds cool. The question is, if you put your knowledge of the book aside, do you feel like the story of the campaign is incomplete?

New music? I might actually look into it. 4-5 tracks per map.

New gameplay content takes time to create. You know that. It needs to be made, integrated into the old content sensibly, balanced, and polished. I think DotD and TLG have enough content. For the past years I have been caught in a seemingly endless loop of remaking old campaigns. For future updates I would like to focus on polishing*, which takes less effort. Thanks for considering my new music comment, yes I do know new gameplay content takes time to make. I guess I was just wonderig if it's fleasible to turn some of the cutscenes into missions. But if it's too time consuming to add, I understand. Thanks for considering my new music suggestion at least.

In terms of the story of the campaign feeling incomplete (ignoring the book), the epilogue section does feel a tad bit rushed. It does have a poietic irony to the ending, the mentor he knew being a monster but now got resurrected to become the best version of himself, destroying Karazhan which is the symbol of his sins. But still the epilogue does feel a little abrupt. Specifically in terms of Khadgar's characterization, despite the campaign being named after Medivh, Khadgar is still the main character and I felt his arc was rushed at the end. We didn't get a lot of time dedicated to showing how the world and how he views himself as an old man. I was hoping to see Khadgar and Lothar interact after defeating Medivh, considering their growing friendship and their mutual respect and admiration for Medivh prior to his fall to madness. Also some cutscene to show how Khadgar got imbedded into the Alliance military, to provide a transition to his larger role in the Warcraft 3 campaign. In general we don't get a lot of time to see how Khadgar is coping with his advanced aging, essnetially having 50 years ripped away from him.

I was also a little bummed that the Dalaran side plot got skipped over near the end, it would have been cool to see how the Dalaran council react to Khadgar's near death experience at the hands of Medivh, how Medivh manipulated them for years, and moving forward knowing that there isn't a Guardian to protect Azeroth. But this part of the story I can live without.

Those are my big gripes with the epilogue, considering how flushed out Medivh's backstory and the beginning section of Khadgar's journey was, it does make the ending feel a little lacking.

Most of my earlier suggestions were what I thought could be cool ideas for new gameplay sections to add more time to the campaign without feeling like filler. But I can live without their inclusion, the epilogue though is what I feel needs the most attention going forward. Even if we only got a few cutscenes, I think it would add a lot to the experience, and round off Khadgar's arc nicely. It's ultimately his story, and I feel strongly it needs a truly fleshed out conclusion.

Other than that, everything else about the story, I am fine with.

I hate those useless items. I spend most of my time figuring out what the h- to do with them or hoping to find something valuable using them. Overall it is a fun exp and looking forward for more epicness.

I saw this. Found it funny to spot some similarities.
Unfortunately this map would not work well, simply because it's too big. You would have to run around a lot to get quests done. Precisely for this reason I had made all TLG maps a lot smaller in version 2.0. ...But imagine having a this map and filling it with meaningful quests :D Would be a campaign on its own.

I do have access to Reforged but I still have not found time to see what Reforged assets I can use to replace custom assets. Probably not enough.

Hey everyone, I need a help with Chapter SiX Flight, that heavy bag part. I can't get the by anyway, heroes keeps dying, and Garona keeps sayimg they should try something else. I can only stop one of them's time, and can't teleport them, there isn't a item I could use. What should I do?

Hello I really want to play this mission but I'm stuck on Mission 1. After burning the bushes and killing the 2 Barbarians, I get an axe and a pouch. Due to the strange camera angles I cant find the place where to use it, exhausted all options. Using version 1.31.1 under Rebirth mod.

EDIT: Problem seems to be on Normal Difficulty only. Now playing in Easy and the Tree Bridge works.

There is a strange key where you can use the axe.
If you get stuck again I suggest using a youtube walkthrough like this

edit: I just checked on Normal difficulty and it was working for me. Maybe you were not close enough to the tree? Otherwise I think it's possible that it bugged out randomly. I don't really trust WC3 anymore. Everybody has a different version...

Ook,I just registered just to say a big THANK YOU man, you made a great job here.

After all complications (getting ver 1.31 is not that easy) i managed to play this jewel.
I'd like to say that some voice-acted for animations would be freaking amazing.
It's really a pitty not to see the old versions, 'cause i watched in youtube some past walkthroughs (some puzzles caught me up :wscrolleyes:) and maps where much bigger i guessed now maps are much lighter and smaller?

Anyways it was really enjoyable to play this campaign, and now I know u made more of them (also for ScII !!) I have to check them all out .

Taking a break from LotC 3.0 to work some more on TLG 2.2 (which might turn into 3.0 if I continue like this).

I am removing most useless items! Instead, difficulty is going to affect how the inventory is used:
- Easy: No dialog appears. Items are used/combined automatically when all requirements are met.
- Normal: A dialog appears to Use or Combine an item. Combine no longer lists other items to combine with, it's one Combine button for all.
- Hard: Just like now. A dialog appears that lists all other items that could be combined with.

Additionally I am removing the number of items that appear on a list.

I will probably leave some 'useless' items but add fun descriptions/interactions, like the Bell of Stormwind in Chapter 4.
Alternative idea: Some of them can be combined to create Chest Keys.

edit: Redesigning Dalaran prologue. I want to have cooler background and more people walking around and I thought, why not make it look closer to the original Dalaran.

That's awesome. Though imo you should remove the Blood Elves, Spellbreakers especially. They didn't quite "exist" in TLG time.
Done.

Some other mini things I'm working on:
- Small transmissions (e.g. failing lockpick) are now floating texts, so they no longer clutter the Log (F12)
- Chest Keys replaced with Special Lockpins. These lockpins grant one additionaly try when failing to open a chest.
- Focus hints (the green clouds) no longer stay on the ground when no longer necessary and are dynamically created for all items on the ground.
- Added item Focus Dust at start of Chapter 1.

(Idea for now: Remaining 'useless' can be turned into Wand of Chain Lightning, Focust Dust or Special Lockpicks)

Don't want to do too much; I hope to be done by Sunday.

Almost done. I decided to do a bit more with Chapter 7. I have expanded the puzzles a bit, so you now use Garona and Lothar(!) for certain puzzles.
- Lothar is useful during combat. He can use his Charge ability to summon the 3 Swordsman to deal massive damage to a single target.
- Lothar can also use Disassemble for puzzles, which morphs specific quest items into other quest items.

I've finished about 50% of this new stuff. I still have to add these heroes to the combat encounters. I should be done next weekend at the latest!

This will definitely be the final gameplay update. Future updates will only include bugfixing, localization or Reforged HD assets.

I've updated The Last Guardian to 2.2.0 Beta 2. Highlights since Beta 1 include:
- Remade Prologue
- Any useless item can now be turned into a Magic Lockpick, a Wand of Chain Lightning or Focust Dust
- Focus object hints will now only appear when necessary
- Chapter 7: Garona and Lothar are now playable
- Chapter 7: Made most puzzles more complex to make Garona and Lothar useful
- Over 140 quality of life additions, improvements to balancing and bugfixes


This was the final gameplay update. Future updates will only include bugfixing, localization or Reforged HD assets.

- I couldn't tell how many charges of Focust Dust are left.The number in the lower right coner of Focust Dust always displays "1".

Hey,OutsiderXE.I've kept 1.31PTR as you recommended.I guess I'm lucky,still being able to play your campaigns.Here's my feedback of TLG220b2.

- I couldn't tell how many charges of Focust Dust are left.The number in the lower right coner of Focust Dust always displays "1".

- Magic Lockpick, Wand of Chain Lightning(transformed by useless item) and Focust Dust do not stack.

- Missing colored text in Chapter 3.

- Ismail no longer gives hint to player.I'm afraid it's too hard for newbies to find out how to trigger that dialogue.

- Mana cost of Steal is too high,making Garona out of mana easily in some scenarios.(e.g.Stealing the chicken thigh).
Hi! Did you play it on Hard? I removed most green text and some hints on Hard.
Items do not stack in 1.31, unless I trigger it.
I guess i should remove the item tooltip for contains 3 charges.

Just wanted to say that it doesn't work on 1.31.1 by default. Instead it says that it was developed on a newer patch and asks if we want to open it anyway. When I say yes, the game crashes. I managed to solve this by moving a random unit by a mm in each map, and saving them all again. Now, it works flawlessly.

I just wanted to say that this thing with Reforged and so many versions is painful, said, ridiculous and hilarious all at a same time.

My only hope is that, once Reforged implements custom campaigns, people will generally agree to use the latest version, provided it is stable enough... This would make development so much simpler and usage simpler. But I know people will have objections installing 30GB they don't use* and there are numerous people using illegal versions they can't update...

*Blizzard needs to add an option in the launcher (install HD content?) like a language pack.

Then cross compatibility, for say melee, won't work because they haven't figured a way to do it even in 2020.
True fans will buy the game or they already have original keys.

Just resave the campaign and its maps with the World Editor if they are not protected.
