The Dead - 100% Zombie SURVIVAL Game - *DEMO RELEASED!*

Before we go into details, let me make sure that this is clear.
THIS IS NOT A MAP LIKE ANY OTHERS.
THIS IS A GAME MADE WITHIN WARCRAFT 3!

What does it do, you may ask? Well, it will have a custom Title Screen, as well as a custom UI, although I'm still not sure if the title screen will show up on your computer. If it doesn't work, then I'll show a tutorial on how to put the custom title screen on your game, if you want it.
As for the game itself, let me go through some features.

  1. WHEN YOU DIE, IT IS PERMANENT. YOUR CHARACTER WILL BECOME A ROTTING CORPSE, AND NEVER GET BACK UP.
  2. THIS GAME HAS A HUNGER SYSTEM. IF YOUR MANA IS DOWN TO 0, YOU WILL DIE OF STARVATION.
  3. WHEN YOU KILL SOMEONE, THEY WILL NOT DECAY. THE BODY WILL STAY THERE FOREVER, OR UNTIL THE GAME IS OVER.
  4. WHEN A ZOMBIE KILLS SOMEONE, THEY WILL, INSTEAD OF DIE, BECOME A ZOMBIE THEMSELVES.
  5. THE ZOMBIES WILL EVENTUALLY OVERRUN THE CITY. AT DAY 1, THEY ARE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND, BECAUSE THEY HAVE YET TO RISE. DAY 1 IS PRETTY MUCH USED FOR YOU TO LIVE OUT YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE IN THE GAME.
  6. THE ZOMBIES RISE ON DAY 2 OF THE GAME, 24 MINUTES (IN GAME, IT IS 24 HOURS) AFTER YOU BEGIN. WHEN THEY RISE, THEY WILL BE IN HUGE NUMBERS, ABOUT 10 IN EACH SPAWN POINT, WITH MANY SPAWN POINTS IN THE WHOLE MAP. THAT COULD RANGE TO APPROXIMATELY MORE THAN 100 A DAY.
  7. GETTING PEOPLE TO FOLLOW YOU WILL BE POSSIBLE. YOU CAN'T SURVIVE ALONE OUT THERE. GET AS MUCH HELP AS YOU CAN.
  8. SANDBOX GAME. YOU DON'T HAVE ANY LIMITS TO WHERE YOU CAN GO. GO ANYWHERE, DO ANYTHING TO SURVIVE.
  9. ZOMBIES AREN'T THE ONLY PROBLEMS OUT THERE. THERE WILL ALSO BE RAIDERS, WHO HAVE LOST THEIR MINDS, OR ESCAPED THE PRISONS THEY CAME FROM, DUE TO THE APOCALYPSE.
  10. PEOPLE ARE NOT PUNCHING BAGS. IF THEY ARE ATTACKED, THEY WILL FIGHT BACK.
  11. SUICIDE IS POSSIBLE. IF YOU LEFT CLICK A WEAPON, AND USE IT ON YOURSELF, IT WILL COUNT AS YOU COMMITTING SUICIDE. ALSO, NOTE THAT YOU CAN EVEN USE THE ITEMS WHILE THEY ARE IN THE CONTAINER THEY ARE IN.
  12. NOT EVERYTHING WILL COME IN BOXES. THERE WILL ALSO BE REFRIGERATORS, DRESSERS, CRATES, SHELVES, AND MANY MORE THAT YOU CAN LOOT.
  13. NOT SURE WHAT SOMETHING IS? HIT THE INTERACT ABILITY, AND CLICK ON WHAT IT IS YOU WANT TO INTERACT WITH. IF IT'S A PERSON, YOU WILL TALK TO HIM/HER. IF IT'S A PIECE OF FURNITURE, YOU WILL EXAMINE IT.
  14. SLEEPING SYSTEM. YOU CAN SLEEP ON COUCHES OR BEDS. TO SLEEP ON THEM, CLICK THE ONE YOU WANT TO SLEEP ON, AND USE THE "REST" ABILITY ON YOUR CHARACTER. YOU HAVE TO BE CLOSE TO THE FURNITURE TO SLEEP ON IT.
  15. THERE IS ONLY ONE GOAL IN THIS GAME. SURVIVE AS LONG AS YOU CAN.

Remember, this is not how you triumphed over the endless hordes of the undead.
THIS IS HOW YOU DIED.

I DO HAVE MORE SCREENSHOTS, BUT IT'S MOSTLY JUST ABOUT HOW CORPSES DON'T DECAY. DON'T WORRY, THOUGH. I'M STILL WORKING ON IT.

Anyways, please leave a comment below stating what you think, what should be added, and what you want to know. Heck, you can even ask if you can be a beta tester, and I'll send you a message when I count you in. Also, please don't send me a message saying something like, "Please look at your post! I've said that I want to be a tester! MAKE ME A TESTER!!!" I'm a human just like you, and I have my schedules of things to do, as well. I'll be on this post often, but don't think I'll be on it 24/7, because don't forget... I'm working on this map too, so I can't do all things at once. Believe me, only God can do that ;). Anyways, I hope this project brings great joy to the awesome people of The Hive such as yourself, reader. Enjoy!

P.S. Don't forget to leave your comment :). I'll be waiting!

NOTE : I've added attachments of the screenshots here, as well as the ones mentioned that isn't here. If you want to check them out, please have a look ;).

***UPDATE!***
After a whole night of little sleep, and a lot of work, I'm feeling confident that the Demo I've made is at a playable state! Just visit http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/maps-564/dead-199792/ to check it out! Thank you all for your patience, to those of you who wanted to play my game :). Have fun!

Sounds interesting, although you said close to nothing about the actual gameplay. For example, and i have no clue what to expect. Are u in a city? Farm land? Are there different weapons or enemies? How do you get people to follow you, what type of people follow you, what do they do for you? It seems like an interesting game, but not quite enough info in there.

(also, all caps gets sort of annoying, but i guess its supposed to be like that haha)

EDIT: Dont get me wrong, i think this game has a future, but fellow bee's want info!

Oh, sorry.

I forgot to mention...

(1) The place - The game is set in Diamond City, the place your character currently lives in.

(2) The features - You can travel through the city, trying to find supplies needed for survival (Like guns, ammo, food, and people willing to help you.) while at the same time, trying to avoid raiders, the military, and, of course, zombies. If you die, it is permanent. You will have to start over to play again. Also, if you attack anyone, they WILL put up a fight.

(3) The zombies' spawn rate - 100 zombies will rise from the grave, and attack anyone in their path at 8:00 P.M. every night. If you survive the night, then they will go back into the grave at 6:00 in the morning. One problem, though. They rise from under ground, so they DO have a chance of breaking into your "Safehouse", so you are never truly safe. That means that if you barricade the way out, you just might have also doomed yourself, as well as those inside your "Safehouse".

(4) A different type of character selection - Are you tired of starting off as some sort of wisp, and walking into a circle that chooses who you are? Well, not any more. Now, when you are choosing a character, you type "-1", "-2", or "-3" <Without the quotes> to choose your skin. Your name will appear over your character's head, to help you find out who you are in the map.

(5) Isometric Point of View - Remember Age of Empires II? Did you enjoy the camera style they had? If so, then you're in luck. The camera of the game is going to be Isometric, just like Age of Empires II, so you don't have to hold down a button to rotate the camera. I have it set to where it will be easier to find stuff, while at the same time, make the game look cooler (In my opinion, anyways.)

(6) Zombification to the people - If a person dies from a zombie, whether it be Man, Woman, or Child, they will become zombies themselves.

(7) If your mana (Hunger) Drops down to zero, you will die of starvation.

(8) <Hopefully> Custom UI, as well as Title Screen.

(9) Single Player is, at the moment, the only choice for the game. I may add a Multiplayer version in the future, if people enjoy the Single Player version. For now, it's all NPC's that will be helping (or hurting) you.

(10) The Year is based in 2012, where the world is said to end.

Hopefully that is enough information to satisfy y'all, but I can go on forever, so I'm just going to share that info. There is more to the game, but I wouldn't want to spoil everything.

Also note... to get people to follow you, you have to use the "Interact" ability that is given to your character automatically. As for weapons, there will be guns, baseball bats, and lots of other stuff you can find lying around in a city.

How far along is the project so far? terrain, story, units, triggers and items(??)

If you decide to make it a single player game (Which I think is a good idea) then you will defiantly need an engaging story-line that brings the player into the game, not just playing it.

Oh, and here is some ideas you may want to consider about you're post.
[x] Do not use caps-lock. It looks like you are shouting.
[x] Organize you're screen shots with the HIDDEN function.

( [ h2][ HIDDEN=Screenshots ][ /h2 ] Screen-Shot-Data [ /HIDDEN ] ) Just close the brackets.

Thanks, everyone! I've updated my post, with a link to a demo version of the game. I'm sorry if I use CAPS a lot. I'll definitely use it a WHOLE lot less! (Oops, I did it again! Sorry :p.) Anyways, I've got the storyline in the link to the demo, when you're ready to give it a go :D.

Also, Marok0, I'd like to point out that you can't play as a female character YET. You WILL be able to in the near future, though, and you have my word, I will definitely do that, ;).

And as for W3SK3R < Nice Name, by the way. Wesker from Resident Evil, I take it? :D > I can provide a link to the source of the custom UI, if you want :D. With the program I use, it's also possible to change the music of the game, as well as the Title Screen :).

Black Crown. Thank you for your concerns of the progress :). I'd like to say that I'm doing quite well with the Units, Story, Triggers, and Items, but the Terrain still has a LOT of improvements to go. In the demo, though, you shouldn't worry about the terrain, though, as you're restricted to the house you start in < Partially because I couldn't let y'all suffer from the lack of environment outside the house, while other reasons, it's also a demo to get you used to the controls, and the basics of the game :). > Like I said to the Admins/Moderators, this demo is the appetizer to a full course meal. It's NOT the same, but it's used to tide you over until the FULL deal.

Super Ze Man. I've been thinking of your comment for a while, now. I know not many people get on B.Net nowadays, but I could probably make a 2-player version for you and a friend to play around with in LAN, if you want :) . Would that work out okay for you? If so, I'll work on a LAN demo, where you and a friend can both try to survive in the old house from the Singleplayer Demo ;).

Yeah, 2 player... maybe 3 player would be the maximum, but i wouldnt focus on multiplayer too much.
