Well, as most of you may know North Korea has just recently launched a series of nuclear attacks on the small island of Yeonpyeong (That's one mouthful) while South Korea was conducting in some military exercises. This caused the death of 2 South Korean marines and 2 South Korean Civilians. The casualties, although it may not be much, the act was violent nonetheless.(Oh Gawd!)

So what now? Hold on! South Korea has just said that they're going to continue on with the training exercises on Yeonpyeong (You know, mouthful?) and South Korea's president, Lee Myung-bak, has clearly stated that is North Korea retaliates them again, South Korea with retaliate them with a much greater force. Airstrikes.

IMO, South Korea will definitely proceed with the training exercises and I don't doubt that North Korea will shell the island again.

So...
Will South Korea back off?
Or will they proceed and will the Cold War which ended in armistice ignite again?

So whats your opinion?

I think you guys read too many falsely-advertised political debates/adverts on what is to be, and what may have been or what is happening now.
Go play Portal, that's more fun than talking about something that should be posted in Medivh's Tower.

it were just artillery shells

besides

NK is just acting tough, maybe in relation to the new heir.

The new guy is going to be even worse.

North Korea, as it stands, is a global threat, and if someone even more dangerous is coming about, maybe their line should end before something happens to the other nations on earth.

1) NK is just some whiny bitch that the more powerful countries tolerate. If it was a threat, it wouldn't exist...

2) There will always be someone 'more dangerous'...

When's the last time you heard about the great nuclear power that is Canada?

If there are twelve men in a room, and the one mentally unstable dude has a canister full of mustard gas, it's a safe bet that once the other eleven see what could go wrong in that situation, they'd want to stop the threat.

If one of our allies attacks North Korea, their psycho ass leader, whoever it may currently be, would have half a mind to just nuke the shit out of the aggressor and it's allies.

Again, this is why I'm in favor of having any potential global threat put down, doesn't matter how many heirs there are, if they're all a problem.

They have nukes. The world will be screwed if anybody declares war.Nuclear powers will interfere if there is a war between non-nuclear countires.
Has this ironically resulted in increased chance of peace?

Yes, but how do you define "global threat" vs "defending". If that was the case, then everybody would be at war with the US, a country which has killed many innocence to kill a small group of extremists, all under the cover that they have WMD's (or whatever the latest crock of crap is) and they feel its a danger to their country.

It would come down to whatever country can abuse that policy the best rather then trying to protect people.

They have nuclear weapons, and any nuclear weapon is a threat to atleast a single nation. Do not forget, they also have China backing them, and if one of our allies makes a move against them, war could break out all across the globe due to our obligations.

Actually.. I thought that there was a leak from WikiLeaks that stated that China hugely disliked NK.

1) You wouldn't hear about the "great nuclear threat of canada" since it's basically the 51st state. The only countries it could bomb it depends on for basically everything.

2) Attempting to eliminate threats in those situations encourages suicidal tendencies

3) NK isn't suicidal, or it would already be assaulting SK. If it got attacked, it'd do what most whiny bitches do... claim helplessness and beg the help of someone bigger to save it.
