The Channel Ability?

Hello i was wondering what the ability "Channel" is for?
When i add the spell to my hero i can spec it but when i've speced it i can't see it.
Is the Channel ability for the dummy units? Or? What else?

Channel is great because it is the most versatile. You can modify many different values of channel, and most importantly, the base order id. This is so that casting one spell won't trigger another by accident, in case they have the same base order id. For normal spells, you can't change the id. For the "channel" ability, you can. =D

EDIT: One more thing, am i going to add the ability to the hero or should i just have it in the object editor or should i add it in the trigger instead?

You can go ahead and add it to the hero in the object editor. It shouldn't make a difference though. =)

But then i can spec the ability and that i dont want :S
This was just a question about the Channeling ability, i'm not creating anything with it but i'm pretty sure that i will mby use it some day

If you want the ability icon to show up on the hero, then check

Level 1 - Data - Options -> visible

and the same for all ability levels.
