I'm sure anyone who's done any advanced skinning for wc3 has come across the problem of that annoying team color polygon that you'd just want to diasappear, because it happens to be a flag that your blademaster-based unit shouldn't be carrying, or maybe so other appendix you're tying to alpha out, only to find out that the persistent block of solid color remains no matter what you do.

So here's a question for all you skinners and modellers: is there a simple way of getting rid of the team colored parts of a skin (as in, make them invisible, not just paint over with something else), or maybe some simple modeling trick to make the specific geoset vanish without spending half a day moving vertices to a part of the model that the sun doesn't shine in?

Firstly, it's not a blademaster's flag I want removed. That was just used as an easy example to explain what I'm trying to accomplish.

Secondly, thanks for the offer, but I posted this here rather than the requests section for a reason. Who knows when I'll run into a similar issue with another model, so I would really prefer some advice on how to do this myself, and whether there's a simple way to do it without extensive, detailed vertice manipulating.

Using magos I tried nuking the geoset only to have my WE crash as soon as I loaded up the model.

Now I looked up some more info and figured out I need to remove geoset animations referring to the deleted bits too. My wingless succubus model & skin works now, and I have a simple method to try out on other models that need the same treatment.

Don't use Magot. It cannot delete meshes or parts of them, only scale them to zero to hide them. For base mesh editing you can use either Oikerwinkle or MdlVis.
You sound hostile towards magos'.

Oh yes. Do what Rao said in the post below or your life will be ruined.
As I already posted just before you, that's what I did and it was what I needed.

You'll need to also delete the GeosetAnim. Using Magos', look for any GeosetAnims that have "none" as their GeosetId. Delete them, because they make the game crash.
Don't you fellas read the thread responses before posting? As I said above, already found this out and did it. The problem was solved like an hour ago now.
