Terribly noobish question

It is embarassing having to ask a question such as this but..

What is the purpose of channel..? Every time I try to make an ability based off of it theres never a casting icon for my unit at all.. everyone says to base abilities off channel and crap but i don't get it..?

It makes you able to create dummy spells.

TO make the icon visible, check the checkbox that says "Visible" in the "Options" field.

Not only dummy spells.
Channel allows you to create really any spells and they won't mess up cause of the same base ability ID,
Visible = makes ability visible
Targeting image = for AOE spells.

The largest purpose of Channel is its use in Hero-Builder type maps. It is used as a method for having a hero that will have different abilities depending on the course of the game.
