Tauer's Models

well, for myself it helps me to consider what to do next a few days before i start modeling... just to think of the concept and to let me get inspirated!
maybe you want to consider what to model next aswell?
we could help to get the next idea...

first thought should be what you want to do with the models...
Will you put them into a map? Are there models missing which could add to the feeling?
Or would you more likely want to make one tribe first?

I hope you are well again!

tauer, if you get the chance, please make Deathwing based off description and concept art from wc2. I like the look of the wc2 dragons over the wc3 versions. I'd give rep.

[Edit] Oops, skipped ahead of thread w/o reading. soz. Hope u get better soon

He's on break. He'll come back when he feels like making models again. Besides, he's already made a ton of models in a short span.

Hey, I'm sorry I haven't been active here in quite a while. I've been working very much, I just got Fallout 3 (Awesome game!!) and I've been busy watching Lost and Prison Break :p
So not really so much time for modeling. I'm not dead though, and I probably will begin modeling again when I have time and feel like it.
Just so you don't think I'm dead :)

you may not be physically dead, but in our hearts you are. Fallout 3 will pull you so far in, that it becomes an addiction (much like WoW). Don't succumb to its awesomness... and why Lost? the series died after the seconds season.

How could one even say that about LOST!? It's the best show going right now. Grishnakah you should really watch seasons 3-5 online and catchup on all the awesome-ness you've missed out on, it's really good. Glad to hear you're still alive Tauer, can't wait to see the next great model when it comes!

I saw the entire series of lost (except for season 5). I lost interest at season 3 onwards, and gave up altogether at season 5. And Fallout 3 is WAAAAAayyyyy tooo addicting. I don't think Tauer will model for another 2-3 months, I'm assuming.

Haha, actually I've slowed a bit down on the Fallout, Prison Break is over (So sad, it was my favorite show ever  ), and Lost isn't returning until January  .
On the other hand I just recieved the new Arthas novel. Collector's Edition :D
So I may return to modeling soon.
After the summer vacation I'm actually beginning on a school where I'm gonna learn modeling, so I'm looking forward to that. Hopefully I'll be much better at it after some time there so I can make some scratch models.

I'm not sure what weapon to give him though.

Use the wolf's head like a helm... a bit like the shaman has. Don't put it on the shoulders.

Yeah, I tried that, but it ended up looking pretty crappy. So I'm either gonna stick with the shoulder or just use the shaman's head.

The wolf's head could work as shoulders, actually. Perhaps try making it like the Ten Storms shaman armour in World of Warcraft.

Hmm, Idk, it seems a little too shamanistic for a grunt?

Perhaps put some armor on his chest? Just seems like a lot of fur...

Yeah, but what kind of armour?

New picture.

i would remove the lower jar from the wolf, also turning it metallic
so its both armor and clansign.
Just because they are calling themself frostwolf it
doesnt mean they have to wear all
furry armor. i would say plates are alright, when you can see
some fur showing here and there. Like in the shoes, wristbands and some
showing out of the neck. Would be logical to have the fur Inside the
armor to be more resistant to the cold weather in alterac.
I dont know what your idea of a weapon is, but i would add a claw or
maybe a wolfhead as fistweapon.

Just suggestions

Well, the wolves' head on the grunt's one would really look like the shaman's i think, please dont do that...
But making it metal would be an option, as it now looks a bit as if he slayed a wolf and then sticked the thead on his shoulder (its not like armour, but just to have something representing the clan)
And fur all over him looks a bit like as if he'd wear a pyjama (i dont think the last word is written correctly)

im into the "scarf idea" we talked about, maybe even covering his face a bit like the acolyte?
Maybe you could paint him to have lots of clothes on top of eachother...
And how about moving the wolves' head a bit more to the right?

I'd say find something else for the shoulder cause it looks kinda weird, put the shaman head on him and make the back of the shaman armor a cloak, for the armor I'd say either put leather straps like the one going across his chest all around his body, or make some burnt looking leather armor for the arm and the legs, as for the weapon, a staff, cause they're out in the mountains they're probably ganna need walking sticks, a club that looks like it was carved from tree limbs, or a one handed axe, also I suggest that if you could get the anims right, if you use a one handed weapon give him a torch in the other hand, cause c'mon, they live out in snowy areas, they're ganna need light and something to melt the snow for where it's too deep. Also welcome back Tauer, good to see you are feeling better, also I'm taking a computer game making course this summer, so maybe I'll start making models aswell, maybe we could work together sometime? Hehe, sorry this post is so long, I've been really thinking about a Frostwolf grunt, so cya later

I'd say use a similiar headgear to that of T-Revellion-T's godslayer, some pretty tough scalemail on his chest, fur boots, metal greaves and fur pants. Remember fur showing around the places that Rizz_boomer mentioned. Make him have a Heavy Stone Knife (Iuak) in his belt, those are used for breaking ice, also, for a weapon i suggest an axe with a long handle and maybe with a spear end in the other side (Like the Ugrosh) Or a heavy falchion (Large scimitar). I like the wolf's head shoulder, keep it. And the face is really cool

Okay, I am going to try out modeling from scratch. Frostwolf grunt is kinda on hold. I got sick of not being able to make him look alright.
I am a complete noob at modeling from scratch so bear with me, but how does this look?

Too many polies? Too few? I have no idea at all, so I'd like some input.

No offence but ... wow you're graphic card must ready suck (judging from the smoothness of those lines)
the model itself looks fine though.

Hmm, actually my graphics card is pretty good. I run Crysis at highest settings... Is there some kind of option you have to turn on to smoothen the lines?

My first trys in Scratchmodelling were much worse than that

Hm, I could judge it better if I knew what it is, it looks like the torso of a human, if that's the case then it looks great for a first try

So it's okay?
Cool.

Tauer, for doing Frostwolf Grunt, dont remake from scratch. I pretty sure theres something we missed. I reckon you should have its head similar to the shaman (half a wolf head on it). it won't look shamanny, as long as you got an axe in his hand.

Attach all parts together and connect the vertexes.
Also post wireframe or edged faces picture.

It's not the Frostwolf grunt. As I said, he's on hold right now.

Thanks, correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't I wait until I've made all the parts to connect them? Idk, just seems easier to work with like this.
