So I have this project which is making a design that need to make it 50's-ish
Of course, I googled, and got Some Idea, but really, I don't know any Element or stuff that make something look 50's-ish,
So I would like to ask if Hivers have any idea...
If you wondering how's my project is, is basicly trace a Marilyn Monroe Face and Apply/Fill it Element of design (Or Designs/Pattern or whatever, just draw on it) while the theme is the 50's, which, Is some really hard thing for me as my brain filled with majorityly Fantasy Warcraft/Medieval-ish Stuff,
so... help guys.... XD Deadline is tmr :goblin_cry::goblin_cry::goblin_cry:

This is What I had done, which is WIP+Failure, And it doesn't look like 50's-ish at all i know :V

Hu....

I cannot believe you did not find anything via google, did you try '50's fashion', '50's haircut', '50's generation' and '50's retro', or simply '50's' ?

It is not the easiest theme though, as it is hard to come up with new ideas.

Maybe something mixed, using the original 50's and today's retro 50's ?

Hmmm Maybe
Of course, I searched those, I applied the Hairstyle on the hair XD and the Image I use to trace already has the hair there, which Marilyn Monroe,
For Fashion, I try to get the pattern they Have, but I don't think that would be enough to give the 50's look, I even try finding 1950's car which I added at the neck that doesnt look like car at all anyway
What's Retro btw? might be some good things to find as reference, "Searching Retro 50's"

And 50's generation might also be a good keyword to search, thanks :D

And yeah, this theme is super hard for me =.= Me prefer MEDIEVAL STUFF XD
if there is freedom on theme, I will definitely Spam Dragons, Armor, Swords and Gryphons XD

You would be surprised, especially older people will immediately recognize the style, as many youngers do, too, as it is very remarkable, also due to television.

Retro, I hope it is called in English this way, too, is basically a crazy fashion appearance when old stuff, like old designs, a specific generation's fashion, like the 50's or old furniture and cars are getting popular again.

Some Sketches, Does it look like 50's Now? If I add the Hair I have in my Older Failures

It feels a bit roughly, maybe a bit overloaded, what would you say ?
Do you have to make everything being filled with 50's ?

Maybe Is Really too Overloaded

Does it feel like 50's?

I always thought that the 1950's illustrations is mostly of product pin up girls and silver age comics art works.

Pin Up girls means.... Girls?

Do you know any other stuff that is popular at the 50's?

Rock'n'Roll, if I recall right.

About overloading, well, I hardly see it is a human being/ the human shapes, it depends on your task.

Well, it may be past the deadline (sorry), but in case it's not/you want to do more...

This quick Google Search and this Wikipedia page seem to have lots to say that is quite helpful. So far as I can tell, big, bold colors & sharp contrasts seem to be the thing (all things Wc3 does too), loud expressive figures & such.

Specifically, when I think of the '50's, I think of games like Team Fortress 2 and even Bioshock; artists like Norman Rockwell, Dean Cornwell, and J. C. Leyendecker are specifically cited as aesthetic inspirations to the former. Also consider the awexome Pixar film Incredibles. All very expressive and bold and colorful. (I may be way off; perhaps that's more '40's or '60's... But it's close, right? :p)

"Pin-up Girls" (though a quick Google Search could tell you this...) are basically just scantily-clad ladies, soft-porn popular at that time. The name comes from how one would tear the picture of the girl out of the magazine & "pin [her] up" on your wall to look at (because she's sexy).
