Squire quest bug?

I got a problem with the Shaman's Fire Nova.
I can still take damaged from the wave even I stand behind the pillar!? And running is not an option since his wave covers the whole arena..
Can someone confirm it for me pls?
 
I'm not sure if it's a bug or a side-effect of a system change, but enemy Gaping Wounds does indeed cancel your salve on every damage tick now (not just crits), making Carathos extremely difficult.

Valgar's Flame Nova covers roughly 3/5 of the arena but can still be avoided by hiding behind a pillar. It's just that the damage applies a second after the visual effect so you run back in too early and get hit. This could use a change I guess, kinda counter-intuitive.
 
Speaking of advanced class quests, i think something should be changed about the rangers. I saw a new player beat it on the first attempt the other day with the new auto rest mechanic making moving througj the clouds much eaiser since you're always out of combat and constantly heal
 
After a few runs i found that the 1st stage not that hard, juts wait until the time that the Wounds expired and take a hit from the guy then run as fast as you can. When he hits you, theres a delay he stands still like 1s, you pop the Salve and run away, by the time he reached me, I'm already fully healed :D
I'll try again with the Shaman soon.

Fun fact - you can ignore boss mechanics when you're overgeared/oversouled. Hell, it's possible to get to the point where you don't need salve or potion to do it, but it's not supposed to be that way and we can't expect every player to gear/soul up super hard. Neither can we expect them to realize they're better off running around for 45sec for potion CD.
