Hi all,

I hope this question isn't overly asked but could some one look at my model?

The model is an Night Elf Runner (SD) with the Map (in hand) deleted and that I gave Sorceress Animations.

In Retera, I can view the model. But after import. It does not appear.

Thank you!

Note: yes I restarted map after upload, and second note I am very new to modeling :D

Note 3: MainCharacterEdited has not had the animations of OG model deleted yet, if that helps. MainCharacterEdited2 is the problem-child model (post deletion of animations)

congratulations, i don't know what you did but it seems completely busted
i can't open it with mdlvis, magos or rms
can't convert it to mdl with mdlxconv.exe or hive's online converter, MOP spits out a 1.6kb file with nothing in it
i can't help you, wait until someone more knowledgeable comes along
haha dang it, thank you for trying! if it helps I was following this video:

at the 14:40 mark

Also question tillinghast did both of the models seem busted from your attempt, or just the MainCharacterEdited2?

I meant runner2.mdx, and I meant import into my map not upload
that's because of event objects with zero tracks
that's what i meant when i said "without doing anything else with it", model needs additional work from you
here it is with event objects deleted which means no death sound or blood splats

Okay I am going to attempt to work on your first model that you shared to me an delete object events for my own practice and to learn some of the basics that i am lacking in, I appreciate it man

Thank you Tillinghaust for you time and explaining to me the steps to put in

Hi tillinghaust,

so I was using your first model that you sent as a study model to learn from and learned from your link to delete the Event Objects (6 of them total) and that made the model similar to the second model that you shared. Is that the correct process?

I am also seeing the warning that say Geoset 0, 1, and 2 have
negative extents. Those however seem like not like a delete and move on step. Do I need to resize my Geosets to be larger?

Anyways thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction to learn more! Also may I ask what model studio to you prefer to use. Retera? Or maybe some other kind?

EDIT: I am checking stein123 forum that discusses these errors in detail. I should be good to go in terms of learning on my own thanks again :mwahaha:

as far as i know extents is what determines model's selectability with cursor in game
there are default wc3 models with negative extents so it could be fine
but it could also lead to model being unselectable in some cases
you don't resize geosets themselves, you resize their extents
as a matter of fact don't touch geoset extents, resizing sequence extents is what you have to do
war3modeleditor and i believe rms too have an option to (re)calculate extents which should be good enough
Also may I ask what model studio to you prefer to use. Retera? Or maybe some other kind?
i use war3modeleditor and mdlvis but you're better off using rms

Is this the correct way to fix?
yes it is, it looks like rms even has a handy dandy option to ignore some geosets for calculation
so what you'd do is you select only the main mesh that is always visible in game
deselect geosets with gutz, portrait background, team glow, big effects crap that is visible in like 1 animation
in your case there is only gutz so you need 2 geosets selected out of 3 and then run the recalculation again
in sanity checker you can see the extents for each animation, box and sphere, it shouldn't be too big or too small

okay i am gonna restart from step 1 i think then because I already saved over my work haha, which now knowing how it works from your instructions should only take 2 minutes. good catch bro and once again thank you for teaching me :piru:
