Hi,
My friends and me searched for a heoric presence but couldnt find it. We found every skill but the presence. Then i loaded my crusader in a solo game and killed some outworld bosses just for fun. Heroic dropped 2 times. Was that intentional?

Remember that chance based drop systems are completely unpredictable. Even with an item drop rate of 99% you might be extremely unlucky and not get the drop. No matter how many times you repeat it's the same randomized drop result. This is the pain of these systems, especially with content that takes more time. On some characters, you may run BM, Garg and Alch (for different drops) 2 times, or 50 times before getting a drop. It isn't 'fair' but I can't think of a better system.

However, perhaps an improvement is possible (I have no idea if it can be done), by store the last drop of a boss and increasing the chance of dropping the other items on the drop table instead. So that for instance BM keeps dropping Turban 3 times in a row, but then it's drop chance is down to 5% making other drops more likely.

I think such a system is very hard to make though, cause you have to store a lot of data throughout a game and not only for 1 boss, but for all. Also, what happens when an item dropped a lot "early on" but then doesn't drop for a long period of time? Perhaps for each time an item doesn't drop, increase it's drop chance up to a certain point.

But by now, Zwiebelchen has surely thought through all different systems and found that the current one is the best. So all of this is just pure brainstorming.

I like that it isn't "fair". The randomness in drops is what makes obtaining them so much fun in the first place. I think a system in which you're basically guarenteed the drop you want after X amount of kills would become boring :s.

Well, in chance based systems you are never guaranteed a drop. However, I completely agree with you. Although, in extreme cases, farming for several hours for an item can be a pain. But of course the current system is good because it creates a foundation for the game - i.e. not running everything once and gain the best gear in the process --> game ruined cause everyone is in the exact same uber gear and there is nothing else to do. It is for the same reason that, while it would be nice at times, a several drops (bard talent aside) pr. boss would not work. In games with 10 players, 1 drop is not enough. But in Gaias with a maximum of 5-6 players, 1 item is fine.

It's good for items, but no so good for abilities. Just because your class weaker and more dull without some skills (also some talents affect dungeon/world bosses skills, so you must farm Zibnix/Crab/Wolf/Troll again and again to gain it with bad luck).
Yeah, you can say this adds more purposes to go back to starting locations and help with bosses for newbies, but usually ppl stick to farm these abilities solo in localgame.

Some solutions were suggested before to change this, i can remember three of them:
- Add skill vendors in Mythargas, selling scrolls for MC-s. So players can buy them starting from d3 content. Pros: don't need return to old content. (Ogres spell add in dwarven village for much higher costs)
- Add boss related quests with ability scroll reward (i.e. run d1 twice, or kill all world bosses in Ankhmaron).
- Move class items to separate loot table and make drop based on currently loaded characters with 2 rolls: 1 roll chance to drop something from class loot table, 2 roll select class from loottable and drop corresponding item. So all scrolls will have for example 20% chance to drop when boss killed, and if you playing solo it will be your scroll, and in 3 ppl party with different classes you will have 33% chance for your scroll (in fact 20%*33% => 6%).

I don't like "augmented random", because it undermines the purpose of random: unpredictableness. Also, it's not like items in this game have ridicolously low drop chances (except for phoenix, but this is on purpose) anyway.
Even the dungeon spell scrolls mostly have a 4-5% drop chance per class and per boss.
