For a 12MB map it should be enough.
If you have further problems, remove imports that you don't need or rarely use.
There's also something about imported music, but I'm not able to explain that.
8 MB is the limit, if your map is bigger than 8192 KB(8,388,608 bytes) it will not work on LAN or Battle.net(yes, for pedants, it should be 8 MiB, but who cares anyways)
What's increasing the size so much? Are you using music, sounds or high quality skins? If so, those can also be compressed.
If you attach an unoptimized version of your map to a post, then maybe we can help you compress it further. Or if you don't want to make it public, I can walk you through the steps in detail if you PM me.
Compress your files in your map to reduce the map size. Compression is a method used to usually decrease
the quality and file size of a file. Your map can be compressed and the files (imports) inside your map can
also be compressed.
You can reduce the file size by removing imports so that it is exactly 8 Megabytes or less. It will then be able to be hosted on BattleNet and LAN play.
