Scaling issue in 3Ds Max 2009

I've got a problem with my scaling from time to time. When this problem occurs, I can just scale, but when I do so, another axis is scaled in the opposite way. So when I increase the scale of the Y-axis, the X-axis automatically decreases.

I've had this problem yesterday, but it vanished as unpredictable as it appeared. Now I have this problem again and I want to scale properly. Is there some key I hit that activated this? But most importantly: How do I get it to work normal again?

how do you export your models from 3dsmax 2009?
is it the DeXporter? this one oftenly acts really wierdly with rotation and scaling keyframes.

It's not exporting, it's just while making the model in 3Ds Max. Then it randomly causes problems with scaling. Today it again happened and went away without notice.

There are 3 scaling types in 3dsmax. You must have shifted frome one of them. to shift them back just hold the scale button and select one.

You've done it again! That solved it. Even though I never got near that button before, so I don't know what causes it, I can now solve it, which is most important.
