Retaining Spell Cooldowns after Morph

I'm having a druid transform into his cat form who has all completely different abilities, so when he transforms back, if he used a spell in his normal form it is automatically reset after he transforms back from cat form and vice versa. How would I store the cooldowns of the spells in both his forms so when he switches they aren't automatically reset?

Use UnitMakeAbilityPermanent and just enable/disable the ability for the player when morphing.
