hey

just wondering if its actually possible to generate random terrain ( elevation +cliffs + ground textures + doodads ) while the map is playing.

like in warlock brawl, the map generates a big circle that shrinks over time, but that has no cliffs or elevation.

Cliffs no, you can simulate them by raising terrain and changing ground textures and placing psuedo pathing blockers on them though.

Random generation involves a lot of effort and tedious work on a large scale, and can use a lot of memory. On a small scale it can be fairly simple however.

It is possible to change ground variation, ground type, ground height and blight flag. It is not possible to change cliff type, cliff variation, water height and some per-node flags.

Doodads cannot be created in game. However destructibles can be generated in game but be aware they are more resource intensive than doodads.

It is also possible to dynamically load terrain types up to the terrain type limit. Once a terrain type is declared (in the w3e file) or loaded it cannot be unloaded.
