[General] Flying terrain!

Hey, I'm wondering is it possible to create an area that is located up in the air? Above the actual terrain. The first thing that came to my mind was these elevator platform, but can they be lifted like 10-15 levels up and be connected and contain building or units and to have way gate that leads there?. If any other ideas, share?

Hm, choose a high initial cliff level and then remove the ground ?
Then you will have to move everything down which is on the ground.
I am not sure whether it works this way though.

Beside that, no I don't think there is another good way to simulate a thing being in the air.
Depending on where and what it is, you could play around with doodads, like adding clouds around the position.

Walkable doodads such as bridges/ramps is the best thing I can come up with.
Although, that has some side effects which you might not like.
For example, you have to make your own model (and pathing texture, not sure if it will be different if you use regular pathing blockers).
I dont think there is an easy way of making the 'layers' stackable, though.

You'll have to use a lot of custom doodads, and put a lot of work into it.
Sadly, I think it's imposible to make it walkable under it with the alpha tile, You'll have to be very creative and do some "illusions" to make it seem like walkable, for example rise only the things(like buildings) with the alpha tile, place walkable doodads where there is no buildings, and place doodads "under" the alpha to make it seem like the doodads are blocking the way, not an invisible wall.

But I'm neither an expert, nor a good terrainer :p
 
I did it like Dr. Super Good said, but there is a problem.
I made a small raised terrain that is like 6 levels and then I put 4 platforms around the top with ctrl + PageUp. Then put a region on the top and somewhere in the map way gate. When my hero walks through the way gate and teleport on the top of the hill the CAMERA is very low... A way to fix this?
