[Question]How to Preload a Map???

Preload functions are for to Pre Load eg Sound files or Models so game will have it in memory for use. If you not use preload then it have to load it when you want to use. For a music eg 10 MB it is recommended to preload it on map ini because when you use it then you will expect a big lagg before it starts the sound. The source your lagg I think too much units/doodads/HD objects/Too much periodic functions/endless Loops... or your computer is not uptodate like mine :p :D

It helps if you have soo much sounds and models etc.
  • Untitled Trigger 002
    • Events
      • Map initialization
    • Conditions
    • Actions
      • Game - Preload ENTERTHEPATH eg. units\human\HeroPaladin\HeroPaladin.mdx
      • Game - Preload Imported\SEffects\Angel.mdx
      • Game - Preload MySounds\MapTheme.mp3
      • Game - Preload War3mapImported\otherfiles.etc
Basically it is. However nowdays preloaders used for a bug in warcraft to save data or hack computers :S Searching for tutorial... Not found
My little poor map is filled with hiveworkshop triggers :D

If you really use files not imported to map then check for the path of the file.( Also you can see two radiobuttons "Imported" and "Value". Select "Value" and paste here the path ) If it is inside WCIII folder then no problem( C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\MyMapContent\Deathknight.mdx ) just
  • Game - Preload MyMapContent\Deathknight.mdx
so the file will be loaded ingame and not need to load it later.

Another when it is not in the WCIII Folder( C:\Documents and Settings\User\MyMapContent\DeathKnight.mdx ) then write in the full path.
  • Game - Preload C:\Documents and Settings\User\MyMapContent\DeathKnight.mdx
Also if you use local files then just copy the path you entered as the unit and paste it in the preload function.
There is no easier or faster way to load data.
